Went in to trim up my layers and dead ends and i was not disappointed! Tenzin did an amazing job delivering just what i asked for with her meticulously yet swift skills. She made sure i was comfortable with the length and consulted me through the process. Definitely worth it and will be coming back again.

Came in to get my hair cut a few weeks ago and none of the students were available so one of the teachers cut it. I usually don’t leave bad reviews but I have never had such a terrible hair cut and I left almost crying. I was somehow left with long bangs that look like they’ve been chopped with kids scissors instead of framing layers which is what I asked for. I also asked for long layers in the back which turned into a straight chop across the middle. The teacher was nice and the place was clean.

I had a student cut my hair here for free. I had quite a lot of hair to cut off, and it turned out lovely. The instructor values the artistry of haircutting, and approaches his work as more than a simple job. I believe these are values he finds important to share with his students.

I visited this place for the very first time and all I can say is this place is perfect for your hair styling. I got a haircut followed by blowdryer, this came out so good on me. I really appreciate the work done by Tenzin and her efforts were amazing! Do recommend this for anyone who is in Victoria and there is one in Burnaby too!!

It’s really unfortunate that I had a bad experience here since there are great reviews. My hair stylist ended up being the instructor, which makes my experience even more concerning. I came in and expressed I wanted a very simple trim (blunt cut) and, while I can appreciate his recommendations to do an inverted bob, I was firm that I did not want to do this. I immediately felt like he was going to do “what he thought was best”. I’d love to tell my entire experience because I am still a bit in shock about it, but the bullet points are:

1. the instructor didn’t listen to my repeated request for a blunt cut trim.
2. the instructor didn’t listen to my concerns
3. the instructors cut my hair shorter on one side (to the point where my partner noticed) and I expressed it in the appointment but was so adverse to him coming close to me with the scissors again that I declined him fixing it
3. The instructors techniques and style recommendations are out dated and I will be going back to my barber for trims.

I expected so much more from this place and will never return. If a student was doing my hair I would not be posting this because they are learning; I wish it had been a student because I feel they would not have been so carefree with their cutting technique and would have listened to my requests.

I had my appointment back in June and I have been meaning to say how awesome the stylist/student Tinsen was. I hope I remembered her name correctly. So impressed with her and definitely want to go back to her if she's still there when I book my next appointment! Thank you to the teachers too.

The salon is very luminous with white painted walls and natural light coming from the large windows. I believe it's a plus especially if you want a hair colour done. I really love the fact that there was no loud blasting music like some other salons in town. The staff were friendly and I really like my haircut. They also gave me some tips on how to keep my hair smooth & healthy.

I got a free haircut here during the May promotion, and it went great! My hair stylist was very kind and careful with cutting my hair to an inverted-bob style. They had a boss who would monitor the hair stylists and give them advice and tips on how to improve. The boss was also pleasant to talk to, and knew exactly what I wanted and what haircut looked best on me.

The environment is very spacious and clean too. I highly recommend Orane whenever you're in Victoria looking for a haircut. They won't disappoint!
