Truly deserves zero stars. A public health and fitness facility fully funded by our tax dollars. Obviously overstaffed with management. Yet claims not to be able to staff it with lifeguards. And
For years running, barely opens on a part time basis.
Maintenance is seemingly ineptly handled with repeated breakdowns in standard facility items. Cleanliness is not maintained at even a bare minimum, eg. Showers are not clean thoroughly each day.
It seems to be a managed program of constant failures. Is this a plan to have public option be dissatisfied in a bid to see a new facility built at great expense? Is city council behind this?

This pool was built in 1966, only a few years after the Berlin Wall in 1961. At 58 years old I think it's a little past it's expected useful lifespan and we are overdue for a modern replacement! The new pool center in QUALICUM BEACH! is beautiful and modern and doesn't smell like urine. How many more decades are they going to keep stringing this husk of a pool along for until it's closed due to safety concerns? The staff are lovely and always great.

I wish it was open more for family swims. When it is open my kids love it. Hopefully they can figure out their staffing issues and get it open Saturday and Sunday and more open/family swims.

Perfect for families! We were visiting from Nanaimo, and we went on adult swim Saturday and it was fun. Good space in the change room, steam room is spacious. Only downside was the hot tub was out of order unfortunately, during our visit. I would recommend. I wish we had that sauna in Nanaimo!!

It's unfortunate that this swimming facility in Port Alberni is the only option available. The management leaves much to be desired, with frequent schedule changes and irregular swim times. There is a lack of consistency, as schedules seem to change abruptly without prior notice. However, the majority of the staff are kind and respectful, although there is one individual who appears to find it challenging to communicate changes effectively. Additionally, the provided schedule is often outdated, as they prefer to make weekly changes to a live schedule. This inconsistency reflects poorly on the management. One particular staff member, Dawn, was notably rude and made the process difficult with her passive-aggressive behavior. Considering these challenges, it may be worth exploring swimming options in Parksville and Nanaimo, where facilities may offer better management and staffing.

Friendly staff, clean changerooms, and friendly life guards. An older building, but well run and managed. Awesome sauna and nice sized hot tub. Great for families, and affordable for everyone. Port Alberni should be proud of this facility. Will be back.
