Was just sitting here thinking how grateful I am for Landers. Did the food suck? Yes. Did the pillows and beds suck? Yes. Did it provide me with routine and structure than I lacked? Yes. Did I work through some heavy stuff and learn to love myself? Yes. Being that it is government ran I didn’t expect anything fancy. I was just looking for a place to rest my head and find reprieve from my disease. I made the best of it and kept an open mind. I am 8.5 years clean off all mind altering substances. I have a life I never knew was possible thanks to the stepping stone in my recovery. I hope everyone out there that is struggling and suffering can find a reprieve from their disease too. Don’t be apprehensive to keep trying to seek treatment for yourself. You are worth it and you matter.

Lander is complete bs, I was discharged a day before I was suppose to finish because of missing morning stretch. Staff members are racist, food sucks, my councillor was no help at all when I opened up to her & just was not a good experience in general.

I had a wonderful experience at lander. I had the best counselor she was very helpful and when I got discharged after my 28 days were up she gave me good referrals for addiction and mental health counseling and SMART RECOVERY I am excited for them. I do miss the recreational therapist they were the best .I definitely recommend this place ☺️

Amazing facility to get assistance with addiction and substance use. The staff are all immensely kind and compassionate. I struggled with substance use and abuse for more than half my life and attended other programs in the past without lasting success. Thanks to the staff and the well structured sessions and numerous activities available, I am coming up to a year and a half sober from drugs and alcohol. Highly recommend to anyone who is struggling! Unlike some other reviewers who could not follow basic rules and guidelines, I'm sure this program will help anyone and everyone who comes here and is willing to invest time and energy into themselves. Thank you Landers for all that you do to help!

People who want to get help for addiction should think about going somewhere else..This place is very unorganized and rules change from day to day depending on what counciller is on that day. They love to accuse you of things you didnt do at the site then punish you without any proof. Someone outside of this organization should be contacted to let them know how this place is really being run. Lot of staff have power trips over clients and for a place that is meant for healing.. the client came out in worse shape and agitated than when they went in. Alberta Health Services High administration should be ashamed of this faciltiy. Go elsewhere for addiction because client did their tasks as required and did as they were told but staff still accused them of doing things they never did.. Bad Bad Bad facility

This place made me and a friend wait a month and a half after completing the application process and sending them in from the same place at the same time to get an admission date, and then after spending money to get there, we were rejected entry because we know each other and came together after we were both given the same start date and had the make the commute from Red Deer. They were really shady about their reasons and weren't willing to provide any further information regarding why?

The place is dated and staff mentioned during the inspection process that it badly needs updating. The exercise/ fitness room is extremely small with only a couple old pieces of workout equipment. Food is your basic hospital food.

The treatment was planned to be a month long so now I'm the money I used to get there and have to rearrange my plans for the month now with no care at all from the staff about their decision.

I turned down jobs and wasted a month and a half of my life while waiting to get into this place.

And during this rejection explanation this Stephen fella tells me that if we had come on different weeks..... Like a week apart from each other it would have been fine. Lol. 😂
(Like seriously.... What difference does that make ?)

Over all... Just a very disappointing experience.

This place is an extremely excellent treatment center for addictions. They also focus on the mental health side of addiction with the recent hiring of a mental health therapist, so I am revising my review to 5 stars! This is amazing as addiction always has a mental health component. The experience you get here is excellent. I’ll go into depth below.

Here you won’t just receive individual counseling and group therapy, but there are so many great individual and group activities to keep you occupied! You will make friends that will last long after your short few weeks stay here! And don’t listen tho the people who say the food sucks, it’s actually pretty good!

I’ve been here twice, 5 years apart, and really enjoyed my stay both times. The leatherworking workshop was by far my favorite place to hang out and make cool things!

I have nothing but incredible things to say about this program. I attended voluntarily, and the staff, accommodations, and food were all fantastic. The recreational activities made the stay very enjoyable.

Most importantly, the counselors care, and know exactly what they are doing. The program opens your eyes to so many introspective aspects that definetly can help you deal with whatever addiction concern you have, if you are willing to buy in and truly want to make a difference in your own life.

10/10 would recommend.

Thank you Lander
