It’s my first time to participate in the $60 non-refundable fee program for students under 20 years of age as of September 1 of the current school year. The program ran from July 2 to July 26, 2024, and I took the in-person Biology 20 course summer class through Metro Continuing Education at Ross Sheppard High School, taught by Ms. Pui and Ms. Karen.

Both Ms. Pui and Ms. Karen were engaging, responsive, and attentive. They ensured that I understood the material whenever I asked questions. They also made sure we took multiple breaks during class, which helped students avoid information overload and allowed our brains to rest.

The course was understandably fast-paced, given the compressed summer schedule. Due to the intensity, we didn’t go through the class assignments, particularly the online labs, as thoroughly as in a regular class. With quizzes almost every day and Unit Tests nearly every Friday, it was challenging to dive deeply into each assignment. However, both teachers did an excellent job of making the fast-paced learning environment work, incorporating multiple questions, quizzes, and videos to aid our learning. The final exam, held on July 26, was worth 10% of our grade, with the multiple Unit Tests and class assignments (mainly online labs) accounting for a larger portion of our final grade.

I also appreciated how the school provided free freezies to help us cope with the hot weather.

Finally, I want to thank all the teachers, staff, and members of Ross Sheppard. They made going to school every day more manageable and enjoyable with the school being cool, clean, and comfortable.

Cheryl Bromling is my favourite teacher in the school. She is the best teacher and liked by my all friends as she teaches very well. Teacher cares us a lot and teaches using easy ways. She never takes study very serious and teaches us with entertaining activities. We enjoy her class very much as she makes us happy too. She is very friendly to us and never makes us fear from her. She is always listens if we have something to say. I hope to be in her class next year too because she makes school the best!

I chose Metro to upgrade some high school marks before applying to post-secondary. They have excellent instructors who know their material, and very helpful, friendly receptionists and administrative staff. They genuinely want to see all students perform their best and excel in their courses. I'm extremely satisfied with my time spent at Metro, I will never forget it.

Bad Service.
When i tried to sign up for summer school, the website crashed at the last step --- the step where you enter your card's information. I entered my mom's card's information, and the website crashes when i hit enter. So i payed at least 5 times because of that. Despite that, i wasn't sent an email that tells me i signed up for summers school (which is supposed to happen.)
So i called them, and they told me that they had had multiple calls about that. Then i was told that i will get a refund (because i payed more then once) and that i will receive an email. THAT WAS LAST WEEK. I never received the email nor the refund.
Therefore i called them yet again today.
I explained my situation to the customer, she said she's gonna check with the accounting team and will call me back. That didn't happen. And now they closed so i can't call them for today.
In conclusion, i payed multiple times for a service that isn't even guaranteed yet!
(Sorry this review was a bit too long)

I took couple of courses when I was upgrading and for summer school with Metro. I had a really good experience with Metro. All the teachers I had were top notch and well experienced. When I took night classes with Metro, tutors were available for additional help. I will highly recommend Metro for any upgrading purpose.

It's really a hit miss situation if you'll get a good teacher or not. I've had four teachers here who were amazing and went above and beyond, willing to sacrifice personal time outside of school to answer whatever questions you may have. I Only had one bad experience with a teacher who didn't care as much and was just there for a paycheck. They offer free tutoring Monday-Thursday 5-630 which is amazing because prices for private tutors can be ridiculous. However there are only a certain amount of tutors so you may have to wait a bit to be helped. Another plus side to metro is they offer funding for low income students (like other upgrading schools). The only downside to metro, centre high etc is you have to write diplomas for 30 level courses. You can go to Macewan or Nait and not have to write any diplomas but you'll be unable to receive funding and the courses are slightly more expensive.

Lack of customer service. Laura, all i wanted to do was finish my grade 12. They got mad because i came in to look for classes instead of calling them. Then it takes them 3 days and i still havent heard back from them. They dont care about ones future here and im very saddened as im trying to accomplish my schooling. I wouldnt recommend these inconsiderate people.
