Great school! It's an amazing choice for everyone because it's not solely focused on sports, arts, or academics etc. Its focus is on being able to have every student find their own path to focus on! I found this school to be a perfect choice for me with an amazing music program. So many different options to choose for me to build my passion for music with a great music teacher and the amazing friends I made in this school.

As a former student, I can say that Lillian Osborne is certainly an interesting school. This review provides a detailed explanation of my personal experience regarding the school’s academics, opportunities and extras, and overall environment.

Academics: Personally, I thought the school was pretty good academic-wise. There are many teachers that provide one-on-one support to students in terms of studies, and overall, the school average is not bad.

Opportunities and Extras: To start off, it provides a diverse variety of courses to choose from, and really helps students aim for their passion, be in arts, sciences, or athletics. There are also numerous clubs to choose from, volunteer opportunities, and the school has interesting events from time to time (Chinese New Year celebration, Culture Day, and Rockathon to name a few). The school also has occasional pep rallies which I personally did not enjoy.

Students are also provided with mental health support and counselling if the student so wishes. The student can easily get access to mental health counselling through the student services room, in full privacy. The mental health counsellors are also very nice.

Next up, food. I really liked the variety of food that is sold at the kiosk. This includes pizza, samosas, hotdogs, chocolates, ice cream, etc. (Please note, they don’t sell these every day, just once in a while). As for the school vending machines, they are not the best, but there are much better vending machines in the rec centre next door where some students go during lunch time.

School Environment: When it comes to the environment, it has its pros and cons. I found that there was always something going on, and I feel this would be the school for people who enjoy noise, activity, and crowds.

I’ve met a variety of different people in my three years at Lillian, ranging from people who would run after you and hand you a five dollar bill you had dropped, to people who “borrow” a toonie from you and you never see them again. In classrooms, people are usually friendly with each other, and help each other out. All the same, there are some really toxic people at the school. So I wouldn’t really categorize people at Lillian as “all good” or “all bad.” The teachers are very nice though, from my experience.

As for vaping, I’ve heard rumours that students vape in the washrooms, but I have personally only seen someone vape once.

As in any high school, people very openly make out in the hallways, be it guy-girl, guy-guy, or girl-girl. Swearing is really common. Same with gossiping. But it all really depends on where in the school you hang out at lunch time, and who you surround yourself with.

Conclusion: On the whole, I’ve had some really good memories from Lillian. There were a few things I did not like, as mentioned above, and for these reasons I give this school a four-star rating.

(And no, I was not intending to write an essay on this, but then that happened...)

Phoned school this morning to clarify misleading information published. Whoever answered the phone was rude and unprofessional! I never in over 40 years experienced such unprofessionalism in words and tone. She was extremely condescending and clearly not happy with her job choice. She should stay home. In light of today's events, people should spread positivity, especially when it concerns our children! My suggestion is she leave her work if she does not like it. Please correct her behaviour.

I moved to Edmonton from the Middle East in 2013 and Lillian was the first high school I attended in Canada from 2013-2016. Not a parent, I'm actually an alumni here and I have to say, Lillian Osborne was almost like a second home to me. The connections I've made, the friends I spent time with (up to this day), the adventures I had embarked on here, the invaluable lessons I've learned from my teachers and friends, and conversations I've had with such heart warming teachers and staff members have left a great impact on me and have shaped me into the person I am today. Not somethingsI could've gotten elsewhere to be honest. Feels great seeing them embark on so many new projects and initiatives!
