Student here from the class of 2016. The school hosted some fun events (talent shows, dances, theme days etc.) and there were a good variety of clubs to join. However, the actual learning experience is very demanding. Some teachers were great with offering study sessions and one-to-one help, but I found that anyone who struggled were pretty much left for dust. There would be a lot of teachers that would guilt trip “low average” students on their slim chance of being successful in life simply because of their grades or their ability to make it to UAlberta. That is not an environment that motivates students to do their best.

In all, MAC served me well. It was the push from the teachers in the IB Program that allowed me to both apply and get into a highly competitive Medical School straight out of high school.

The English program is world class. Science teachers are passionate and talented. Math program really does do their best in delivering a mess of a curriculum. Social was always a joy to take, especially WWH 35 with Delpercio.

Vandendooren made IB accessible. Of course, such a rigorous program will never be easy, but it was enjoyable thanks to her. Don’t let anyone tell you IB is not worth it, because they’re most likely not using it the way they should.

Thank you, MAC, for setting me up for success and pouring your time into my potential.
