My dad has been a resident of Fort Macleod Extendicare for 4 years and I visit him at least twice a week, different times of the day and this is what I’ve learned over these 4 years.
The housekeeping staff work hard to keep this home very clean and odour free.
The recreational staff have different activities throughout the day for residents to participate in.
The meals are nutritious and accommodate the many different dietary needs of the residents.
The nursing staff make themselves available to answer any of my concerns.
Fort Macleod Extendicare is a smaller home that I have found friendly and welcoming. My dad is treated with kindness, respect and compassion and for that I am very greatfull.

I notice some very negative reviews on here and realize they are from 5-6 years ago. Extendicare Fort MacLeod has had a change of leadership and many staff since then - so if you are looking for help as to whether or not, to place a loved one here - I would urge you to look at recent reviews.
Because of my Husband’s need for dialysis, he had little choice of placement and could not be moved to his home town. This turned out to be a blessing for us! What a warm welcoming facility, this Extendicare is, right from day one. It is very difficult to bring your Spouse into any Long Term Care facility, then to make it worse, my Husband had to be in quarantine for two weeks, as a COVID precaution. All staff were patient with my many questions, kind to my Husband and quickly got to know him. Recreational Therapy set him up to FaceTime with family regularly, which was a very new and very precious experience!
He has been there about 9 months now and we are both extremely happy with the quality of care. Any little problem has been dealt with quickly and effectively. Communication is excellent and you always get a call back. Problem solving is done with my Husband’s needs coming first rather than the “schedule” Housekeeping do a wonderful job of keeping this Extendicare clean and fresh. My Husband’s laundry is done with as much care as I would give it. Meals are varied and often with choices. The Dietary Manager has worked very hard to accommodate my Husband’s restrictive diet. Recreational Therapy staff keep the facility active, fun and buzzing! Admin staff do their best to be available and if not, they will get back to you.
As a visitor, I always feel welcomed, accommodated and supported. I highly appreciate and recommend Extendicare, Fort MacLeod as a facility with high standards, for very personal and compassionate care of each resident as an individual first.
