I booked a number of campsites for a group booking and the staff at the Lions Campground were so lovely! Everyone I spoke to on the phone was super helpful and they made the group booking process easy. They even labelled all of the campsites for my group so that they could find the spots!

The campsite is in a great location - walking distance from Nanton, the golf course, and the rodeo grounds! It was our second time there and we will definitely be back! Thanks Lion Campground staff 🙂

Nice little campground, walking distance to Main Street and across from the golf course. Not very private sites but if you're in a group, it's ok. A good stop if you're on the way thru to somewhere else.

This is a very nice campground. The camping spots are a nice distance apart, the grass is lush, the facilities are clean and functional. The young lady who checked me in was charming and lovely to talk to.

Local things:

The Bomber Command Museum is excellent, you cannot really appreciate a Lancaster bomber until you are standing underneath it.

Georgies Cafe makes excellent coffee!

The Candy Store is also an antiques shop, could spend hours in it.

We spent about a week here in early July last year. We had sold our home in Calgary and were waiting for our home in Nanton to be finished. We have driven by this campground many times in the past, while driving through the Town of Nanton, and never thought that it would be our home for a short while. It looks inviting enough when you see it from the highway and in truth, was even better than I thought it would be. There are lots of spaces between the campsites and indeed, while we were here, not a lot of campers. This facility is set in a large, mostly treed area, bordered on the one side by Mosquito Creek, and the other side by the countryside. The campground is well run, it is kept clean and orderly. I don't believe there are any hookups available, but there are clean restrooms with coin operated showers, an important item. There is good potable water available, taps amply spaced throughout the campground. There is a nicely equipped playground. The campground is located just off of Highway 2, which runs through Nanton, but the road noise is very minimal. Every Wednesday evening during the summer, there is an "open mike" stage event in the campground, sponsored by the local Mosquito Music. This event focuses on local talent or whomever wants to get up on a stage and showcase their "talent". The location is close to the town, also giving one a chance to participate in all the good things available here. Close by, to the east are the rodeo grounds. There is a rodeo held quite regularly here in the summer and of course, a bit further east is the 18 hole Nanton Golf Course. After a game of golf, you can get a good meal at its well-recommended restaurant, Mulligan's. |Nanton is known for many things, The Bomber Museum, the Grain Elevator museum, the Candy Store, its many fine shops and antique stores, grocery store and it also has an "out of proportion" number of fine restaurants in relation to population size to enjoy. The list goes on. And if just being here isn't enough, it is at the gateway to many natural splendours, Chain Lakes, Kananaskis Country, the Porcupine Hills, Skyline Trail and is also close to a lot reservoirs where you can wet a fishing line.|I probably left some things out, but I think you get the picture. We are lucky to live in Nanton, so probably no more camping at the campground for us, but there are enough reasons here to encourage anybody that a visit to Nanton is in order and that making the Nanton's Lion Campground a home base, is actually, "not a bad idea"!

This place is so amazing. True it doesn't have any real site services, but we have spent the summer here, May through September. It is peaceful and quiet, close to home, and the people who run it are incredible. They have live music on Wednesday evening, for special occasions and holidays as well. It is very well run, always clean, and has become our little paradise. It also draws some great people that are regulars like us. We will be back next summer as well.
