From a mother hearing from a student the new principal is absolutely horrid, I should not be hearing him bash a child for absences when the child should just be taken into the office and talk to about why they are absent not bashing because they are late or absent. The way he goes about things is absolutely awful and I do not suggest this school to anyone else wondering if their kids would be a good fit because they will have something to say about who’s running this establishment.

Most teachers are good and the aesthetics are nice. Construction is annoying and no space anywhere during lunch

I went to this school from Grade 9 to Graduation, the staff that have impacted my life will leave a forever imprint on life. A lot of these one star reviews you see are a bunch of kids who skip class, have sex on grounds, vape and smoke in the bathrooms and are the worst thing about high schools. Hunting Hills High School has been the most supportive school inside of Red Deer dispite the size.

Thurber actively encourages smoking and drugs with a smoking pit in the back of the school and bullying at that school is huge issue. A lot of the kids that do not like the rules here go there and due better to do the fact the teachers do not care as much.

Hunting Hills are not hard on the students, the staff don’t steal, the most I’ve seen is swearing.

If you want your children to succeed and feel like they are needed, please send them to Hunting Hills High School.

Worst school I’ve ever attended. This school is a joke. Good luck trying to learn when you’re being jumped every day. My friend was attacked 30 vs 1 and then spent a month in the hospital and no one was punished or suspended or expelled. Yet you stand up for yourself and defend yourself and they threaten you with expulsion.

The vice-principle says “kids will be kids” and then steals jewelry off you. He the. Threatened my mother when she asked for the jewellery back.

There is zero recourse with the faculty of this school. The entire senior staff should be terminated and replaced with people who actually care about the students physical and mental health, their future and the way society is headed in general.

This school is absolutely the worst example of a public school I’ve ever seen it heard about in this school district.

After feeling hopeless and hitting a brick wall with the principles at this school, I had no other recourse than to transfer.

Once I transferred to L.T.C.H.S., my average went up by 27% to a 79% average. My highest mark in a single class went from 81% to 98%. My football future was much brighter, my teachers were much better, I wasn’t getting jumped by 5 guys every day. And when I was forced to defend myself, I wasn’t held solely responsible for what came next.

It’s hard enough to make it in this world without the threat of violence every single day. Violence backed and supported by the faculty at this school.

This is not what Canadian public schools should be like!

This is the smaller of the two public high schools in Red Deer and you can tell buy the quality of the education that kids are receiving here. This school has staff that cares about the students. They work hard to pull out the maximum potential of their students. The only issue I would have is their inflexibility of the curriculum to accommodate my son's autistic mind. They do work hard to help him and the blame is more in the system then the teachers, but that is the only thing that I have a problem with, so far. 😉

The school itself is okay but the students and the vice principle (Mrs. Chapel) are horrible. The majority of the school is run by 'skids' and kids are constantly jumped and many fights happen. It is completely unsafe and a very hostile environment especially for kids dealing with other problems at home or problems from the past. And if you happen to be one of the kids who getting jumped, HHHS's policy is that you cannot fight back. like okay. Self defense apparently does not exist in the schools mind. it is a school made for cookie cutter students who are held in by horribly made rule and if a student even dares stand up for themselves, has a different opinion, is different, or questions the schools way-- They are instantly considered a problem child.

I do NOT recommend this school. I'm glad I am leaving.
