My daughter has used only 40 sessions and has exponentially found joy and improvement in her everyday schoolwork. She is in the literacy program. She said “ Mom, how did this happen? I’m so much better at spelling and writing! It happened so fast! Do you think it was Sylvan?” I replied “yes! Our son who’s currently in grade 8 had (key word) struggled with his confidence being in such a key time of his life in junior high. His experience was a real challenge as he is an independent learner and really felt out of his learning capacity since grade 3. Now in junior high, those challenges that were never addressed hit a point where he required extra support. Attempting to obtain that from extra work with us as parents, his teachers which didn’t prove to be a great source of support, we were at a loss not knowing what to do to support our son any more. It came to a head when one day our son was scared to go to school and shut down very quickly. Scared and concerned and as parents feeling we failed our son somewhere, a real support group wasn’t that far away. We reached out to Sylvan Learning and spoke to a wonderful, reassuring woman named Nancy. She took the time out of her day to talk to a upset and frazzled mom. She reassured me that our son wasn’t alone and that there is help.
We started our son in a program that was designed, tailored to fit our family budget, our family schedule and our sons learning ability. With him attending 5.5 hours a week for 15 sessions, he jumped from a grade 3 learning to grade 7.
As of today, he’s attended 29 sessions and has mastered 47 skills.
The programs work.
There are many people who’s children need extra support and affordability for many is a huge deterrent from getting support for kids.
Sylvan worked with us and our budget to make everything be at the best value for our son.
Not only does our son look forward to going each day, it’s rewarding as parents when your son sits with you and express the confidence in himself. It shows even within his schooling and marks in junior high.
To us as parents, just him feeling he can go to school and understand what is being taught, comprehended and retained, is the true value.
So much unnecessary stress is placed on kids and marks. They do their best and they try hard but when it just doesn’t show up in marks they take it personally when it shouldn’t be against them.

Sylvan gave our son and us tools to be at a place where that stress is non existent, where our son can take and apply those tools in every day experiences and make his learning capacity beat the mark and not make the mark beat him.

My son has severe dyslexia. This processing disorder has really impacted him being able to do mathematics. He is in grade 9 and is at a mid grade 7 level. I needed help for him, so I reached out to Sylvan. Just after 1 session my son came out feeling so confident and smart. He actually looked at me and said, "mom, I'm not dumb I actually feel smart!" I literally started to cry, I didn't really understand how he was feeling. He's had more sessions and has brought his mark up significantly. I highly recommend Sylvan Learning.
