What’s the point of donating items to this store for free when they sell them almost like new—despite the fact that they’re in terrible condition and practically ready to be used as cleaning rags? Yet, they still price them as if they were new. You might as well go to a regular store, pay a little extra, or even find the same item for the same price—or cheaper. I would never donate my things here for free because they’re just making money off poor people.

A “non profit” store, or so it describes itself, that charges insane prices for free donated items. Here’s an idea, don’t be in prime retail locations if “rent is expensive”…prime retail locations shouldn’t be a priority as a “non-profit” company.

Anyways, the 1 star is for all of the above plus only flying the goodwill flag instead of a Canada flag. This behaviour seems about right for a profitable non-profit company

I read the annual report for 2023, soon 2024 too. Goodwill in Alberta made about $55 million dollars annually, all from free donated goods. I know, wow. About 60-65% of that money goes into Human Resources, that’s right…. Paying employees. Only around 20% of employees identify as having a disability, but that can mean lots of things including mental health. I have never see someone with physical disability working at goodwill. Maybe that’s just me. Rent and occupying space costs around $13million annually, which is about 25% of revenue. There are only 14 goodwill locations in Alberta, which means that’s almost $1million dollars per store to rent retails spaces annually. Again, insane.

That’s right, say whatever you want but goodwill is fraud organization making money from free things! Paying around $13 millions, or 25% of revenue, for rent as a non-profit is insane. So much for dedicating money for a good cause right. If 25% of revenue goes to rent, that means 25% of a dollar you make goes to rent. Right there, straight bullshit that 92-93 cents per dollar goes back to “mission”. Cut the BS, Don’t you assume people will buy all the pretty words on your websites.

Making this review just to counter Daniel Lee's complaint about the Goodwill flag.

This is an amazing location and the prices are more than fair. Every item is one-third of what it goes for elsewhere. You're not going to find these items are a better price, even used. Amazing staff and very clean. Best Goodwill location in the province, and I LOVE the Goodwill flag! It's not like I need the Canadian flag to know what country I'm in.

Cheers.

I had a great experience here today! Very clean, organized, and a great selection! I was able to find what I was looking for after being to 2 other thrift stores earlier today. I noticed my hands were getting dirty at the other store, so I was pleasantly surprised how clean this store is!

Один з найохайніших та найбільших магазинів вживаних речей в мальовничому місті Святий Альберт у передмісті Едмонтона. Великий асортимент, доступні ціни. Рекомендую.

Great store 🏬 this is a open and airy store. What Goodwill does is great for society and this store exemplifies their message. They are doing a good thing. We shop at thrift stores often and this is one of the best out there. My wife often complains that she gets congested at these kind of stores, but that did not happen here. We both liked this store a lot. We found some great deals and each day of the week there is a discount of 50% on a different coloured price tag. We had a great experience and would definitely recommend this store and we will come back again.

Review for Goodwill

I’ve been a regular shopper at Goodwill, appreciating its mission as a nonprofit thrift store. However, I’ve noticed a significant and concerning rise in prices recently. While inflation may be a factor, it’s surprising to see items priced so high that they rival or even exceed retail costs la for new items.
Goodwill is known for offering affordable secondhand goods to support communities and individuals in need. These pricing trends seem to contradict that mission, making it harder for many shoppers to access reasonably priced items. I hope Goodwill reassesses its pricing strategy to remain true to its purpose and better serve the community.

We usually shop at value village for the discount when donating. But this store is way cleaner and seems to be a very good selection. The books are a bit lacking. As a big plus they have fitting rooms so you're not just guessing.
