This was our first time staying at Sandy Beach Suites but it definitely won’t be our last! We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit which was steps away from the beach. The view from the windows was gorgeous and the suite was so clean and new. We were thankful for the air conditioning as it was a hot weekend! Each suite has an outdoor picnic table which was just perfect, and a lovely grassy common area in the centre of all the units. There is an amazing playground and grassy area which would have been a huge selling feature if our kids were a bit younger. The beach was well stocked with beach chairs and adirondacks, as well as beach toys, pedal boats, paddle boards, kayaks, etc. Our teens enjoyed the floating mat and swimming platform, as well as the mega SUP. I loved the treed and shady beach (with plenty of sunny spots). It almost felt like we were in Mexico! We’ll definitely be returning and I’d say 5 days would be the minimum to really get a feel for the place! What an absolute gem!

Step back in time for this retro vibe. Actually most things in Osoyoos have a quite a retro vibe. That the said the accommodation (cabin) is very clean and well maintained. Right by the lake. I would see that is summer this would be fantastic. However, even in the shoulder period although quite brisk, it is still a lovely location. There also seemed to be plenty on renovations taking place in the main hotel (good sign).

We had such a lovely stay at Sandy Beach in Osoyoos! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they went above and beyond to make our visit special—especially for our toddler. They even left a sweet Easter surprise for him (a Munchkin bath toy!), which totally made our day.

The beach is beautiful and clean, and there’s a great playground that kept our little one happy and busy. The whole place is very family-friendly, with clean facilities and a relaxed, safe vibe.

Our room had everything we needed—coffee maker, stove, fridge, and reliable WiFi. It made traveling with a toddler so much easier. We’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely Heartbreaking Experience – Treated Like Garbage by Management

I had such high hopes for our stay at Sandy Beach Suites in Osoyoos. The morning started off beautifully—coffee in hand, birds singing, my heart full of peace and appreciation. I was so inspired I even began taking photos to share what I thought was a little slice of paradise. But that calm and joy were completely shattered by what followed.

Out of nowhere, I was treated horrifically by the resort manager. Not just a little unpleasant—I'm talking about being spoken to like I was the lowest kind of person. I was shaking, crying, and completely overwhelmed by the level of disrespect and aggression directed toward me. My children had to witness their mother being humiliated and berated for something that wasn’t even my fault. It was devastating.

Here’s the kicker: I had been kindly told by a sweet staff member the night of check-in that a late checkout would be fine. I even had two separate staff members confirm it. But the manager completely denied it, claimed there was no such agreement, and told me my name now has a red flag—and that I would never be allowed to stay there again. All of this because of a miscommunication on their part? Completely unacceptable and emotionally scarring.

This is not how guests—especially families—should be treated. The emotional toll this took on me was immense. What could have been a lovely memory turned into a complete nightmare.

Please, do yourself a favour: DO NOT STAY HERE. No one deserves to be treated the way I was, especially over something so minor and easily resolvable. There are many other beautiful, welcoming places to stay in Osoyoos that won’t leave you in tears.

We've visited the neighbouring property, Poplars Motel, several years in a row and decided to try this one this year. In part because it's marginally cheaper (at least in June when we go) and many of the rooms have better views. I'll start with the cons and then onto the pros. It should be mentioned that the room had been recently renovated. We were the second guests to stay in it. We were in a "Lake View Studio suite"
Cons:
* though pictures of the suite showed a dining table we did not have one. We spoke with a guest who's been coming for 20ish years and she said that in the past that room had a dining table. We did have a lovely concrete picnic table just outside the door with a great view of the lake and the mountains beyond. So we ate all our meals there. But it was only partially covered and so would have been a problem in, admittedly rare, wet weather. Also would have been a problem if we wanted to watch TV while eating.
* which brings us to the next problem. The TV didn't work. Guest services made a valiant effort trying several different set top boxes but to no avail. So, no TV for our 3 night stay. No reduced fee was offered. Not as bad as it might have been since we mostly watch things streaming from my computer and that worked fine.
* air conditioner issues. It got the job done well. The one at Poplars struggled to reduce the temperature but this one did it quickly. But not *quietly*. Even with the air conditioning turned off, the fan continued to run louder than I'd like at night. We did figure out how to power off the unit, though with the two buttons on the plug it was tricky but I had experience with similar from my air conditioner at home. So, we coped. Minor quibble, the thermostat would only show temperatures in Farenheit. The US border is quite close so one imagines they popped across the line to buy the units since it's my gut feeling you couldn't sell it like that in Canada. I guess this would be a plus for American guests.
* There was a semi hilarious problem with the couch. It was so big that it was impossible to access the power point on the wall which it just covered. Also the air conditioning unit made it next to impossible to pull the couch out and closer to the TV which was a bit far away for enjoyable viewer. Couldn't see the ball when watching a soccer game for instance. But it did have an arm that let us watch it from the bed.

Pros:
* excellent location with poplar trees providing shade and most rooms having a view of the lake and the mountains.
* great facilities for kids. Small kayaks and paddle boats and kids playground and probably lots else I'm not aware of since we didn't bring any kids
* they had their own pickle ball court and a volleyball net.
* bathroom shower was excellent. Plenty of space to spread around one's stuff on the bathroom sink counter and behind the mirror.
* generally clean and bright and in good condition. But of course, since it was recently remodeled.

One pet peeve, though it's true of all self catering units. There is no list of what's included. The most annoying absence this time was the lack of kitchen scissors though one can always make do with a kitchen knife. They provided coffee and sugar but not tea nor salt and pepper. At least we thought to ask about that and brought our own.

Will we stay here again? Well, my wife and I are in discussion. The table is the main issue. I think we would get one if we upgraded to a 1 bedroom (and get the useful dishwasher and washer and dryer). Have to check if a 1 bedroom is cheaper than a suite at Poplars when we book for next June.

I hope that this helps you prepare should you decide to book. You'll know what to ask for and what to look out for.

Very cute and would be nice in the summer. Just doesn’t seem that the heating is quite set up for winter. There was also no bedding for the pull out couch. We booked to accommodate more people but sent two of our party to stay at a friend’s house instead. Employee was kind and offered a discount thru email for next visit but we never received it. Might stay again in the summer time—I get the sense that the grounds and location would be very nice during the warmer months.

SBS is our first choice when staying in Osoyoos, which we do several times each year in the shoulder and winter seasons. It is immaculately clean and, being a block off the main drag, quiet. The sandy beach is everything one could hope for and the central lawn and rose garden add to the appeal. I'm looking forward to seeing the results of the renovations that are underway as I write this.
