You know it's unique when it's the first. Fort Macleod Provincial Historic Area is the first in Alberta (1 of only 2 in the whole province). It encompasses 3 blocks of mostly commercial buildings constructed before 1914, most in Edwardian Classical Revival style. It's adjacent to the first permanent North West Mounted Police post established in 1874. There's a pedestrian walkway with information panels about the area and its restoration. Take a stroll, enjoy the old west architecture, grab a coffee, see some antiques, and take in the The Fort Museum.
