I had first experience with Chilliwack Midwifery. They were great through out my journey. It was my third pregnancy and still I had anxiety related to delivery. but warm environment made it easier for me especially the delivery time. Diana was great and fun... imagine fun during labour :o................Thank you for navigating me through this tough time.

It really pains me to leave a negative Google review but I do need to speak up and say something for other women to be aware. This practice is giving false impressions of providing homebirths and if you have your heart set on that ensure this provider meets it. They dropped me from care at 36 weeks pregnant which completely stunned my family doctor because they said they think I would fail to appear to hospital but the reality is this: I got questioned a lot and tactics were used to suggest I was high risk due to a long labor with my first "large" baby, and my second short labor with a "large baby" suggesting that preventative IV for helping the placenta come is necessary and she doesnt believe I can birth it on my own. For the record: no previous hemorrhage with either birth and no problems birthing the placenta within minutes after. She told my third degree tearing (lots of trauma there) in my first birth was genetic and I questioned why I didn't tear with my second and she said "i dont know, wasn't there." Kristi suggested doing a membrane sweep on me on a day she is not that busy in the hospital so "she can protect my homebirth". I declined membrane sweep in my birth plans. She totally dismissed my birth trauma by saying "I've seen real birth trauma in Nepal" while flicking a tissue on my belly, and many times saying fetoscopes dont work.
I had trauma during a cervical exam with my first by a male OB and talking about a vaginal exam brought up some tears and Kristi laughed that if Atasha triggers you then we all will.

What i thought I was walking into was a quick appointment to check on the baby and be on my way home to my family and got caught in an hour long appointment. At the end of this appointment asking many times to see my original birth record with my first. No impression given that it was for genuine medical reasons but for drama to read on a different midwife. I felt so anxious and overwhelmed. Almost violated by the way she spoke because there was 0 trust to be built or rapport. I couldn't eat or sleep that night at all. Kristi denied everything and I never received a genuine apology. I was brought in to be told im dropped from care because I wrote them a detailed email of my experience asking for them to provide their service for birthing women more compassionately and reflect on that visit. Total blindside. I believe they feel threatened because I questioned whether homebirth is a true value of theirs when Kristi says she is too busy and had "like 4 births in 12 hours at the hospital" and they do not offer any postpartum visits to your home (contracted nurses). I also believe she felt scared because I stood my ground and didn't provide birth records and advocated for myself. I unfortunately read on a online support group from other mothers they have had similar experiences.

Ive had friends with good experiences from some of the midwives but they all reflect that some midwives they hoped wouldnt be at the birth because they had poor bedside manner in their care from them during pregnancy.

Its time to do better. Midwifery became registered so that women could access homebirths safely not that long ago. This is subpar care for women. 30 + births a month seems financially agreeable on your timeline and like homebirth is an inconvenience.

I had them with my first baby - I for some reason got stuck with Christy for the majority of my appointments, she was rude always answered my questions with “you are pregnant what do you expect” and was overall a horrible provider in such a vulnerable time. During my stay in the hospital I had no midwife check in on me and they forgot to test me for the bacteria that you can get during pregnancy that needs antibiotics. I gave birth with 2 nurses and had the midwife run in when it was over already . I had gone with a midwife because they always talk about extra care mental and physical and helping during birth etc. I basically had no care was told to suck it up which made me very uncomfortable to ask any questions and in general anxious to go to the clinic worried I might get Christy and she would put me down. Zero care, zero compassion literally anyone would be better then chilliwack midwifery. On a side note Diana and Hailey are amazing but chances of you getting them are slim since you are passed around 5-6 women that work there.

We had an excellent prenatal/birth/postpartum experience with Chilliwack Midwifery. I felt very comfortable with all the midwives the moment I met them. All of our questions (big or small) were answered and appropriate information was provided to me on topics I had questions about. I can’t imagine going through this huge life transition without these amazing women!

I had 2 babies with chwk midwifery. My first child in 2019 and 2nd feb 2024. Not only did the midwives remember me but they remember a lot about my first birth experience. Childbirth is so personal so having someone you know and trust at your apts makes the experience so much better. Hailey remembered a lot about me and every visit felt like I was talking with a friend or family member. My 2nd birth was amazing. Kristi and kortney delivered my son and it was so calm and quiet… it felt like I was delivering at home. Caring, compassionate, respectful, informative, super professional. I never waited in the waiting room very long for my apts which is amazing for medical care and always felt educated on each phase of my pregnancy. Thank you chilliwack midwifery ❤️
