I would like to thank Avery and the team at Golden Gate for what they have done for my daughter! We moved our daughter here in November to elevate her skills and start entering into competition. Right from the beginning, the team worked with us to establish realistic goals and benchmarks to achieve our target. There are open lines of communication at all times and our daughter is surpassing the benchmarks set out which has rekindled her love for the sport. Avery’s coaching style, positive attitude and wonderful personality make it such a welcoming environment that we will be a part of for a long time! Thanks again!

I would highly recommend Golden Gate for boarding and lessons. Avery has been a wonderful instructor for my daughter. She not only has given her confidence, but has helped her develop empathy for animals. Avery also has helped train our 6 year old mare. Our sweet mare is now healthy and confident, this is all due to Avery’s hard work. My daughter arrived to this barn with little to no jumping experience, and she is now jumping 1-foot oxers with 2 months of Avery’s coaching.

My daughter has been riding here for 4 years and truly loves every minute of it. She started doing private lessons with Avery about a year ago and has made huge improvements. Avery pushes her students to be their best. My daughter won first at her horse show, all thanks to her guidance.

Had a very negative set of experiences at this barn. There was no structure to the lessons. The teacher (Avery)was often distracted on her phone or talking to others instead of teaching. She forgot what she had/hadn’t taught the previous week. Her idea of good teaching is to yell at the kids and “get them in trouble” (her words). Didn’t explain things and then got upset and started screaming if concepts weren’t understood - and this is to a straight A, rule following student. How would this barn accommodate others that don’t fit within this mold? Avery has very little understanding of how kid’s learn and how to develop rapport with them. I’m not sure about the other instructors but our experience with this instructor was extremely negative. I would like to speak more about our experience with the owner so that other children don’t go through what my daughter and her friend endured.

Friendly, safe, and professional environment catered to every level. Horses and riders are always happy, a testament to how the place is run. Starting our fifth year, could not have picked a more welcoming place. My daughter would not be at the level she is at worhout the great coaching offered. Teammates help each other, mentor others, volunteer, and see lasting friendships form. Parents are supportive. Prices are made affordable, making the sport more easily accessible to all. Barn is kept clean, with ongoing efforts to upgrade inside and out. Highly recommended.

Had a very negative experience. Not one isolated incident, but rather a series of ongoing concerns about the teaching style (or lack thereof). We did tried discussing our concerns with the coach on multiple occasions, but to no avail. I'd be happy to have the owners reach out to me privately to discuss our concerns.

Incredibly professional show barn with amazing coaches and horses. The lessons are always fun, positive, and challenging for riders of all levels. The facilities are lovely with large arenas. Horses are always well taken care of and loved. I highly recommend this this barn for anyone looking to improve their skills, and especially those that want to get competitive.

Not Impressed. Over a couple months of lessons, observed Avery (Teacher) spend full time distracted (phone/others) or criticizing 10 year old beginner (straight A student motivated student). Never did I, or my wife, see anything taught, explained, or demonstrated …. “Do what I told you” “Just go up down” “why aren’t you going up down”…. “Don’t sit up there like Humpty Dumpty” while consistently distracted with cell phone and needs of other people. There is clearly a lot of stress, and it’s hiding any passion for teaching or “the barn”. Asking for a seemingly challenging concept to be explained, the answer was it can’t…. But 2 minutes on YouTube and there were several great explanations by motivated people for kids (which my daughter viewed and the concept ‘clicked’ immediately seeing the why and how of the concept explained in different ways). Switching stables, and hoping things get sorted at GGE for the sake of some very smart, talented “helpers” there that made ‘
‘tacking’ the horses fun and stepped in when these very large creatures seemed to want to be doing something else (safety!)
