Overall, the installation went well and I’m satisfied with the final product. That said, the air conditioning unit install left a lot to be desired—unfortunately, the brand new furnace arrived with a dented access panel. The sales approach was quite assertive and included some promises that weren’t fully delivered on—though that seems to be standard practice among the major players. A1 was less aggressive than others, but still engaged in some negative comparisons to the competition. The office operations seemed a bit disorganized, and the installation itself felt rushed. That said, some of the issues were addressed after the fact, and I appreciate the efforts made. A few problems remain unresolved, which I’ll have to deal with myself. A1 has been paid in full.

Really glad we decided to go with A1. We had called other companies but after speaking with Frank we were pretty much decided. And then when we got the quote, choosing who to replace our air conditioner and furnace was made even easier!

What impressed me is that A1 Heating and Air Conditioning don’t use sub-contractor technicians to do any of the work. They also replace the return air duct portion of the furnace (the section that collects all the dirt and dust from the house ducts) and made sure the new furnace was measured and fitted to the size of the air ducts, not the size of the house. This made alot of sense to me and gave us the peace of mind it was being done right.

Dallas, the lead installer, was knowledgeable, thorough, and very tidy. Randy, who assisted, was quick, helpful, and professional as well.

Overall, the whole team was excellent, (including Ingrid who took our money 🙂
They truly know their stuff and care about the quality of workmanship they provide and level of service they offer.

Dallas and Randy from A1 did a thorough and smooth job, finishing our AC and furnace installation in half the time allotted. The job was done neatly and full cleanup was done. Everything looks brand new. They took the time to fully explain what I needed to know about how to operate the equipment and maintain it properly.

Firstly, shout out to Dallas and Randy who installed a new furnace, steam humidifier, heat pump and tankless water heater at my house on June 6, 2025. They treated my house like it was their house. Great communications, explanations, expert install and workmanship of the highest caliber. The sign of excellence....I barely had any cleanup to do at the end of the install.

I had very helpful support and education from Sheldon the sales rep too. He made the process really smooth and easy for me.

This will be the third HVAC system installed by A1 on one of my homes. My brother uses A1 on his commercial units in Missisauga and A1 services the commercial unit I work at. The reasons will be clear after you finish reading my post.

They say a picture speaks a thousand words so I have included photos and my interpretations:

1. eloquent and clean set up, was conscientious of space to maximize storage space in my furnace room.
2. notice the furnace has an additional extension piece on the bottom to increase air flow, look at the size of my new air intake ducts again to maximize air flow, notice my double sized filter compartment again to maximize air flow
3. ALL seals are siliconed to prevent air leakage!
4.look at the intentional and sturdy bracing and hinges and brackets. They are solid and will never loosen. I can hang myself off some of the brackets! No cheap flimsy thin metal supports.
5. Look at the wires and piping. All compactly tied and placed strategically out of the way. By the way, they used copper piping, no cheap plastic stuff they will eventually leak.
6. shut off valves on all water lines to make my life and maintenance easier
7. Look at what they did to my furnace room drain cover. They actually drilled the center so that they can put an elbow on the drain pipe so water would flow right into the drain. Just look at how well it fit. No leaking of water all over my furnace room floor. Now that is intention!
8. All drain pipes fixed securely and out of way so no one gets tripped up.
9. All venting is done properly and piped to the outside. (surprisingly no dusty mess in my furnace room when they drilled the holes for venting)
10. Look at the huge high tech run off valve on my furnace/steam humidifier. My furnace will never be flooded again. (Happened three times on my last non A1 furnace in the middle of winter....not fun)
10. My heat pump was centered on the stand/bracket to the millimeter! Surface completely level! ( I checked)
11. Look at the back of my steam humidifier and tankless water heater. A1 did not just fix them in to the duct and wall. They put in a beautiful shiny metal backing to fix them on the duct and wall!

The list goes one.

And finally, Dallas took his sweet time to go over the whole system, test and double check things, explain everything to me and make sure I was 100% happy. This was on a beautiful warm Friday afternoon! Time to head out to the cottage!

Do yourself a favour and avoid the headaches and heartaches. Go with A1 for your HVAC needs.

We researched the heck out of installing a complete new HVAC system, top to bottom. We needn’t have, A1 again didn’t disappoint. Sheldon the sales person knew his stuff from the word go and the installation team Dallas and Randy were true professionals. They worked tidily and were really nice guys. We should have known A1 would be the best, we’ve been clients for more than 10 years and they’ve never let us down. If you’re a discerning buyer and price-savvy, this is the company to deal with.

We had the pleasure of Bradley and Hydden instal our new furnace and a/c. They arrived well within the given arrival window and were very courteous. They came in, boots off and put down drop sheets. They emptied their truck on the driveway and filled it again with our old equipment- extremely neat and organized throughout the whole process. They worked well as a team, playing their music as they worked. We were told to expect an 8 hour install and they worked right through and we’re done in six. After they left the furnace room was spotless- they actually vacuumed under the spot where the new thermostat went - no dust to be found!!! These guys took pride in their work and it shows in the final result. Also the actual quote process with Joe was painless - he listened to what I was looking for and didn’t try to pressure me into buying what I felt I didn’t need. All in all this as a very pleasant process and I would recommend A1. Having researched the expected cost of a new furnace and a/c - the quote was exactly the price I had expected - so A1 is competitive, but the service is exceptional- our old furnace broke down one winter- A1 was there at 2 AM to do the repair - they are truly 24/7.

I would highly recommend A1 Air Conditioning & Heating. Our sales rep Frank carefully explained our options and our quote was our exact final price. Our two installers Dallas and Randy did a great job and despite some challenges had our equipment installed and running in just over 8 hours. All old equipment was removed and the work area was cleaned. The five star rating is well earned.
