One of the better options for psychotherapy training programs in Toronto. This school cares, and is focused on properly preparing students to be therapists, rather than spoon-feeding them and taking their money! The lab component is invaluable. HIGHLY recommend this program.

Exceptional training program. It is academically rigorous and prepares students emotionally for their work with clients. Wonderful, experienced faculty and NOT a money grab university like some other programs.

OPC is an excellent program for preparing people to practice psychotherapy. The five year program includes academic learning, experiential activities, and a two year practicum with clients and supervision. Students engage in personal and group therapy to enhance their learning, and the student and faculty community are very supportive. The part-time program is comprehensive and rigorous, but the effort is worth it. I feel very prepared by the OPC program.
For people seeking therapy, I highly recommend the low-cost student therapist option. I have made many referrals for work colleagues and friends who have been very satisfied with their experience.

Most students in the program are mid career adult learners. Yet the school is very authoritarian in how they treat students . Universities with twenty year old students are treated with more respect. The school also mandates students to do group therapy with other students; which leads to group sessions being performative , rather than a learning experience. If you really need to change careers and looking for a part time program that is not overly costly and will get you the CRPO license, then by all means enter the program. However look at other alternative schools!

I have used the therapist referral network and found a great psychotherapist.

Being inspired by the changes in my life, I wanted to learn more about psychotherapy and the mechanism of change. I did research and interviewed at a number of schools but OPC felt like my match. I couldn't be happier now presently finishing my first year (and what a year it's been). Awesome program. Such a wonderful and diverse community of people. I have found the faculty to be welcoming, compassionate, and highly professional.

I found my current therapist through the OPC referral almost 6 years ago, and since then have just completed my first year as a student.
I have had nothing but a positive experience this past year as a student, and I encourage anyone who is looking for a therapist to do so through their resources.
The staff are very welcoming and create a very safe environment to learn as a training therapist.

My journey as a student at Ontario Psychotherapy and Counseling Program (OPC) has been full of growth and transformative learning while finding the needed support to move through the challenges.

I also have an experience as a client of a therapist who was trained at OPC. We have been doing a lot of meaningful work together and built a solid therapeutic relationship.

Whether you’re looking for a school to start your career as a psychotherapist or are looking for a therapist, OPC may offer you a well-founded, flexible, and human structure.

I am a proud graduate of the Ontario Psychotherapy and Counselling Program (OPC) which has high standards of training and regulation, and all its therapists have a minimum of five years education. Held in a safe, inclusive and supportive space, this intensive training program helped me to integrate and embody the theory, experiential learning and skills needed to effectively lead different types of individual, couples and family therapies.

My experience with OPC has fundamentally changed my outlook, behaviour and approach as a psychotherapist. It gave me a sacred place to explore who I am and pushed me to grow, and develop further both personally and professionally. I genuinely enjoyed going to school! I left the program connected to a caring community of supportive and collaborative colleagues, faculty and supervisors, and that’s to be valued in the field of psychotherapy. I currently run my own well established private practice. I am forever grateful!
