Shayleen is an amazing teacher and person. Her knowledge of Irish Dance history combined with her ability to incorporate Modern Irish dance into her repertoire is bar none. This provides an incredibly rich and diverse experience for anyone that takes classes at McConnell Irish Dance.

Both my son and daughter have participated in the classes at McConnell. My daughter has been dancing for 15 years and has made several close friendships. Dancing has given her opportunities to compete, perform and travel over the years. With the professional, fun and gentle teaching she has gained personal confidence, creativity, strength and endurance! McConnell dance school has been a second family celebrating birthdays and milestones. Education is important to the group, they offer scholarships and opportunities to mentor younger students. I am very pleased with our experience with this dance school and so glad we found it when she was 4 watching at a show at folklorama!!

Family friendly atmosphere, world class Irish dance program. From preschool to adult, recreational, performance or competitive based, McConnell School of Dance is all inclusive, professional and most importantly a safe, nurturing environment for every type of Irish dance enthusiast. Very proud to call this school our dance family for the last 7 years. All four of our children have been students since they were toddlers. We are forever grateful for the friendships made, confidences built, and opportunities for life experiences our dance family has provided for us.

We are so impressed with how amazing the instructors are with our daughter who started dancing at 3 years old. They are kind, caring, patient and very welcoming. It is so nice to feel like your part of a family and McConnell Irish Dance goes out of their way to make you feel that way!

My daughter has been dancing with the McConnell Irish Dance studio for over 10 years. She has made life long friends and has enjoyed performing and learning in this wonderfully accepting, welcoming community. I highly recommend joining this studio for any age group!

I can't say enough good things about McConnell Irish Dance. Such a caring environment where all students are given attention and encouragement. The teachers are wonderful. They have been very flexible in adapting to the changing restrictions and they continue to deliver excellent, safe, weekly instruction (currently in person and over Zoom). Would highly recommend considering this school for both recreational and competitive Irish Dance classes.

I have appreciated being a student at McConnell Irish Dance. Instructor feedback is gentle and thorough and one can see the great care that goes into teaching and running this organization. They have navigated covid safely and gracefully. There is prompt communication, affordable pricing, and I have made new and good friendships that I didn’t expect. Even on the days I don’t want to go to class, I always come away glad I did!

I spent many years dancing at the studio under Sam and Sarah and then Pearl, before Shayleen took over the studio. I am proud to call myself a McConnell and I haven't been dancing in almost 30 years. But it's the love that I have for dancing, and how proud I am to still classify myself as a McConnell (sort of lol) It is a wonderful school, great for all levels, and the limits are endless, it's all up to you, but you will not be disappointed with the instructors, or fellow students in this school!
