Seriously!!! Waiting 7 hours and more? Emergency should function like clockwork, not like a broken clock. Not enough staff...hire more. Where are all the tax payers money going to? Inefficiency? Inadequacy? Maybe you should hand out numbers to ask patients to come back at a certain time instead of waiting in the waiting room. What stupidity is this system? Might as well bring your own bed. What are the hospital management doing? Any of you guys have a brain to think up of a new system or just don't give a damn and just take your paycheck.
All my ranting and raving and I'm not even the one needing medical assistance...its my friend.

The ER is terrible, very unprofessional and uncaring. Went in with a heart problem was left in the waiting room for hours. My vitals were never rechecked. After several hrs waiting I went to the triage nurse and asked him about my results of the ECG and blood work. I was told both were normal. I was livid with the lack of concerns of my symptoms, I left. Next day I received a call at home about my blood work and ECG both were abnormal. This hospital has a bad rating and they wonder WHY? Both upper management and the Government should investigate deeper as to why that is and why it remains so bad. Nurses, doctors should really listen to the patients concerns . I have since come to learn that I do have a heart problem and it’s sad to know that my local hospital a place where I volunteered at ….failed me! The rating should be a 0.

I don't go often but every time I've gone I've received nothing but the utmost respect, compassion and the best possible Care from the nurses and doctors seeing me. Yes the system itself is at times flawed, the infrastructure is lacking, the building is dated and short staffing at times makes things difficult for everyone working there and the patients but you're going to this hospital to receive care so for the love of God shut your mouths and be respectful of the people that are trying to care for you. I couldn't have asked for a better nurse to help me with a fairly minor but painful issue in emergency the other day. I waited just over 4 hours well worth it to relieve the pain I was going through. listen up everybody the staff at this location aren't the problem. Sure you're going to get people that are in Grumpy moods once in awhile especially if they've been disrespected mistreated or verbally abused at some point during their shift which is quite often the case but most of the time that's because of the working conditions this staff sees on a daily basis. they do their best with what they have. What we need to do is repurpose this building and build a state of the art Hospital on a piece of land possibly on the edge of town. My hat's off to the staff working understaffed at this dated location. I find it ridiculous that with Brantford growing exponentially and steadily especially since the onset of covid that working conditions have changed very little over the last 25 years yet service demands have increased exponentially within this growing City. what does everybody expect with an increasing population and the "usual abusers" that continue to needlessly tax this hospital and its resources? The young nurse I had today was absolutely fabulous in every way she could have been. From triage to admission there was nothing I could have complained about. Grow up all you whiners and be glad you have free healthcare. As mentioned it's not a perfect system but the staff definitely aren't behind most of its flaws.

Absolutely horrible experience with the women’s health clinic. Every health care “professional” gave me different information. They scheduled me for appointments without even telling me, and then completely switched up my appointments upon arrival. I was lied to multiple times, given incorrect information, and had absolutely zero idea of what to expect because of their lack of knowledge and communication. Nurses were rude and gave me attitude as if it was my fault that they did their job incorrectly. Very frustrated with the unprofessional staff. Do better BGH. And for anyone considering getting “care” from this hospital, literally go anywhere else because you won’t recieve the care and help you deserve here.

My husband had a shoulder surgery in day surgery on Sept 27. The surgery failed. On Oct 11, we were called in to do a revision surgery. We arrived at 4:30 pm and were sent to B5 because of understaffing at day surgery. He had his iv port put in and was put into a gown and told to wait. We were told at 7:00 pm that the surgery had been bumped and that we needed to go home. Today, we will go through that again. This has been a horrible experience. However, the bright spot in this is that the nursers on duty on Oct 11 on B5 were excellent. They took great care of us, despite the fact that having to deal with day surgery patients was thrust upon them. The health care system is a mess, but nurses are keeping it together.

I am writing to share my experience during my recent visit to Brantford general hospital on September 26, 2024, for surgery related to my stomach and a hernia.

During the procedure, which lasted over two and a half hours, additional complications arose that required more attention than initially anticipated. After the surgery, I communicated to the nursing staff that my pain level was between 8 and 10, yet I did not receive the assistance I needed to stand or use the restroom.

Around noon, my wife received a call from the hospital indicating that I was being discharged and that my pain was being managed. However, upon her arrival, it was clear to her that I was not in a condition to go home. She asked the orderly to bring me back to the day surgery area, as both of us felt that I was not ready for discharge.

When my wife inquired about my situation at the nursing station, we encountered unprofessional and dismissive behavior from the staff. Despite expressing our concerns, we felt that our voices were not heard and that the staff were focused solely on the completion of their duties. I've noticed that the nursing staff at the hospital seems to lack compassion in their interactions with patients. I felt that the nursing staff didn't listen to my wife's concerns and suggestions. They frequently interrupted her and suggested that my ongoing pain was her fault, which was very upsetting for us. I was really concerned when the nursing staff turned around and went behind closed doors while my wife was trying to discuss my situation. It felt dismissive and left us feeling unheard. I understand that the healthcare system is overworked and facing many challenges, but that shouldn't excuse a lack of compassion for patients recovering from surgery and their families. Everyone deserves to be treated with care and empathy, especially during such difficult times.

Don’t go to this hospital- we went 10 days ago my husband was in excruciating pain, puking fever and so sick. They gave him Advil and sent him home. 10 days ago today we went back to the hospital because the pain did not subside and he has a ruptured appendix. He could have literally died because of the doctors incompetence. Didn’t even do their job. If you can go to a different doctor!

Thank you to Dr Elliott, Nurses Olivia and Mary in the See and Treat department. Dr. Elliott was so thorough in her investigations, ruling out all options before sending me home with peace of mind. Olivia and Mary were kind and compassionate and I appreciated them all so much today. It's not the place you want to end up all day but when you have a team of people that care about the work they do and people they serve, it makes it that much easier. Thank you...off to the DR I go, with much needed peace of mind.
