River Road Nature School is an amazing opportunity for my girls to go and experience. The staff are kind and caring, the property is gorgeous, and they are constantly improving their offerings. Highly recommend for any child to experience if you are on the fence about it. The girls come home happy, tired, and dirty after a day at Nature School and can't wait to go back.

Our daughter has been going to River Road Nature School for nearly a year and she loves it. We placed our 3 children in their summer camp programs as well. Carrie and her team are accommodating, patient and so welcoming. We value the open communication, clarity and vision of River Road Nature School. We enjoy the teachings and memorable experiences our children receive here. Nature based play and learning has had a considerable and positive impact on our children’s lives. Our kids loved their week at River Road Nature School! The staff, including owners Carrie and Josh, were exceptionally professional, courteous, open, and able to adapt to the unique needs and personalities of all kids in their care. Our children felt very welcomed and comfortable from the start, and were excited everyday to go back, explore and learn something new! Initially, we were hesitant about the cost compared to other summer camps, but the learning experiences that transitioned into noticeable themes in our kids’ everyday play were phenomenal. The staff are well-trained for the environment, including handling minor issues like bug bites or scrapes, and the grounds (which we toured before registration) were very safely built and maintained. We couldn't have asked for a better experience where our kids could safely learn and play, and can’t wait to register again!

This is the best thing that happened to my son! He attends once a week during the school in combination with the traditional school! The owners, Carrie and Josh, have such a big heart and have put so much love and hard work into building this little oasis for the children, and it’s no small task! The nature school has so many benefits that are not commonly known but studies on nature schools and child development show significant benefits that transfer to every day behaviors! We will continue incorporating nature school with traditional school because the difference in our son’s behavior is also noticed by his school that support our decision and encourage it!

Our 7-year-old had the most incredible week at River Road Nature School’s summer camp. From the moment we arrived, Carrie and her team made her feel so welcome. Our daughter, who usually takes a bit of time to warm up to new places, felt right at home almost immediately. One day, when I picked her up, she told me she hadn’t stopped smiling all day and wanted to stay forever.

Even though the first few days were rainy, it didn’t dampen their spirits at all. They turned the weather into a fun adventure with a giant slip-and-slide and had a blast playing in the rain. She loved taking the goats for walks, exploring different playgrounds, making smores on the fire and finding “pet” snails.

We’re so grateful for the amazing experience and the wonderful memories she made there. It’s been a truly special part of her summer!

River Road Nature School school has inexperienced leadership and a lack of resources. This led to us witnessing unprofessionalism and disrespectful treatment. We do not recommend this nature school.

Our son was enrolled in the camp program at River Road and he loved it from the moment I dropped him off. The staff are lovely and there are endless activities for the kiddos. The experience gave him a deeper appreciation for his surroundings in nature; now we get to expand on that curiosity. We were a little sad when the week was over and he’s asked me to send him for 3 weeks next year.

I recently had the pleasure of sending my children to the River Road Nature School and it was an incredible experience. Carrie and staff were welcoming and enthusiastic. Carrie planned lots of activities that were designed to engage and challenge the kids, which included plant identification, foraging, caring for the animals on the farm, building campfires and crafts. My kids came home each day filled with stories about the exciting things they had done, from hiking, waterplay and more. I cannot recommend River Road Nature School enough. It was a wonderful opportunity for my kids to explore nature, make new friends, and have unforgettable adventures.
