My experience with A1 driving school has been top notch! As a mature student working towards my G2 I was incredibly nervous to drive and even embarrassed that I was not yet a licensed driver. My instructor was professional and highly skilled. They were able to meet me where I was, nerves and all, and make me feel comfortable and safe as I learned how to drive with them. Everything involved from booking to lessons to payment to using their vehicle for my G2 test was nothing but professional and easy. I highly recommend A1! Thank you!

My experience with A1 Driving School in North Bay was disappointing. I completed the online classes and signed up for the 10-hour in-car training. Based on positive reviews, I requested either Cindy or Jacob as my instructor, but I was assigned to Shawn instead.

Unfortunately, I did not find Shawn's teaching style helpful for a new learner. He seemed to expect that I already had driving experience and struggled to explain key concepts clearly. A significant portion of our lessons involved unrelated personal conversations, which felt unprofessional and distracted from the learning process. I would have appreciated more focus on practical instruction.

Although I did pass the course, I was told I needed to take two more lessons before I could use his car for the road test, which felt unnecessary and financially motivated.

If you are an international student or new to driving, I would recommend exploring other driving schools in the area that offer more structured and supportive instruction.

I just passed my G2 road test today, and I’m beyond grateful to A1 Driving School, especially my instructor Jacob, for helping me get here. As someone who recently moved to Canada, I was completely new to the driving rules here. I was super anxious and scared behind the wheel, but Jacob truly changed that for me.

He was so patient and calm, never shouted, not even once. Instead, he’d laugh off my mistakes and turn them into valuable lessons. He broke down every difficult maneuver into small, simple steps, which made things so much easier to understand. Now I can even perfectly perform parallel parking 🙂

Jacob even noticed when I was holding my breath while driving because of anxiety, and he’d distract me with jokes or by asking about my day just to help me relax. Thanks to him, I can now drive confidently and without fear. I’m genuinely so thankful I got to learn from someone like him. If you’re nervous about driving or just starting out, I 100% recommend Jacob and A1 Driving School!

Initial going into the lesson I was very nervous since I had not had a lot of experience with city driving. However, my instructor Jake was a great teacher and allowed me to stay calm throughout my lesson. When there was a problem with my driving, I received feedback and a way of correction. Overall great experience!
