AET Paramedic Academy isn’t a one-size-fits-all program—but that’s exactly what makes it so valuable. This course structure really benefits students who are self-motivated, driven, and willing to take initiative in their learning. For someone like me, the layout of this program made it possible to achieve educational goals that simply wouldn’t have been attainable through the programs offered at other paramedic training institutes in the province. AET allowed me to still work enough to maintain my household and be a mom which I am forever grateful for.

That said, I wouldn’t expect to be successful in this program unless you’re prepared to put in the work. No one is going to hand you all the materials and walk you through every step—this program demands your time, focus, and effort. But if you’re willing to commit and stay driven, the payoff is absolutely worth it.

What stood out most was how well the school worked with me and my lifestyle. They offered a level of flexibility and support that made a huge difference—especially in areas where I likely would’ve faced adversity elsewhere. The staff were understanding, responsive, and genuinely committed to helping me succeed.

At the end of the day, you walk away with the same PCP certification recognized in British Columbia—just through a format that works for people who learn and live a little differently. I highly recommend AET Paramedic Academy for anyone ready to take ownership of their learning and career path. I feel very prepared to continue working as a paramedic with a set of new tools added to my toolbox.

Thank you Declan and AET team

Such a huge waste of time and money. I would not recommend to anyone. I had applied to the PCP program and was accepted. They wanted a $500 deposit, which was completely fine by me. I had called and left voicemails almost every day for WEEKS and never once was connected to a single person, nor had anyone returned my messages or e-mails so that I could pay my deposit. After countless attempts to contact someone, I had decided to drive to the school and pay the deposit in person. After driving to the building, the owner was there and took down my credit card information to secure my spot. I thought this was the end... NOPE. I had received an e-mail from someone to pay my tuition, which I also had no problem doing. Again, after countless e-mails and phone calls, I could not get ahold of anyone. After being completely ghosted for months, I had finally received an e-mail ONE WEEK before the class start date (keep in mind I was working a full time job and could not just drop everything to go to school in less than a week). The e-mail said "I found your email in our spam folder, so sorry for the delay. What are your plans for the course starting next week?" Obviously I was very upset because I was completely forgotten about, and could no longer attend the course, so I had asked for a refund of my $500 as it was completely their fault. The owner replied and said "the deposit was to hold a spot which we have held for you. It is your choice on attending the class that the spot has been kept for you." Biggest waste of time, effort and money. Hopefully other students had a better experience, but I personally would recommend applying elsewhere.

if it was possible I would say this place is half a star. I took the PCP program in 2019 i did fail and was given the option to redo and show that i completed all the assigned work to do at home for another try at the tests, or i could retake the course at a smaller rate due to the fact that i almost completed it. I was never answered whenever i emailed or called them for a new date. Eventually I made a different email and they answered right away and after i had told them about the promises made by Declan, they stopped responding. If you wish to lose 8k in a course by all means take it here. If you want to pay absurd fees for student services and only be able to work with broken falling apart equipment please take it here.

If there is any other school i would recommend go to Columbia Paramedic Academy it is the same price and 100 times better. If your looking for cheaper JIBC does the course for 6500$ but it is competitive to be enrolled.

What i am trying to say is that this place is extremely poorly run and in my opinion i hope it closes soon so others don't get swindled.

I received training from Charlene Wolff of the Academy of Emergency Training. The one day course taught me the basics that I need to know both for my job and should I run into an emergency situation. I feel beter prepared to deal with a variety of situations. I liked that we (the participants) got to quiz each other after the training about things we had learned and information from the booklet.

I had a Marine Basic First Aid class and it was a lot more fun than I expected. The instructor made a dreary topic very interesting and I gained a lot of knowledge from the training although it was expected of me I actually would like to take more training.

What a hack. I'm from the island and applied to a part time paramedic course, paid the $75 deposit, but AET cancelled the course due to lack of interest and they kept my deposit.
Promised it back, then ghosted me. I can understand if there was another paramedic course it could have be applied to, but no more part time courses were offered.

Went to the JI, great program. Everyone says good things about heartsafe as well, Paul Stone over there promptly returned it under the same circumstances.

Untrustworthy institution that says one thing... again and again... then does another.
