'm so disappointed l'Alliance Francaise does not have the tcf test and if we ask why they will said you can pass the TEF it s like you go to tim horton to take French vanilla but they will said we don't have it but you can buy hot chocolate what a chame so if im living in Manitoba i need to travel to Quebec or Alberta or any other province to pass the tcf so why we have d'Alliance Francaise any way
people make sure to come to Manitoba with your tcf because it is not available here until no one know

If I can, I would give it -5 starts!
This is the worst experience I’ve ever had, so do not even think of complaining about your courses or your instructor, cuz they will fail you with none fairness! They will lie without blinking their eyes! Learn by yourself cuz that is all you can get from here! They can rate your grammar as “thoroughly achieved” while they rate your listening as not yet achieved at all which means they are saying/agreeing that you don’t understand what they are saying in the classes but you know the grammar well because you learnt it all by yourself at home! They’ll rate your “interacting” as not yet achieved at all because of one class you wasn’t able to talk and you sent an email to the instructor indicated the reason was you just got a dental implant surgery right before the class that day. And the instructor will IGNORE you in that class and not only that class but also the next week one! Although you already TALKED to the instructor to ask why you cannot find the class notes in their post which showed that you can talk! They will ignore your emails and your reasonable complaints! The instructor will just fail you because he didn’t like it that you complained about him to the institution that you cannot understand his instructions/handwritings and everything!
Just DO NOT waste your time and money! Also, they will RUIN your interest of learning French! !

I was in the summer course. not recommended for a TOTAL beginner. I was having a hard time with the overwhelming CD listening practice during the class, I hadn't even known the vocabulary items ( or had been taught with ) before the practice. How would I suppose to understand the conversation and get the answers ? One of the teachers even took away my transcriptions when I was trying to follow the CD, highlight the keywords. She just asked me to try "listening". It doesn't make any sense in A101 class. It's a very stressful learning environment. We just read the textbook, did grammar exercises and listened to the CD . Don't expect much but self-study. One star for all friendly staff and one star for the good teacher David. He is very patient

I wouldn't even give them one star.

They were completly incompetent in every way.
They made mistakes with the time and dates of my classes. Refused to correct their mistakes, refused to refund me for their mistakes. Telling me I could only transfer my funds to a different class and not get a refund after they put me in the wrong level of classes that they tested me at.

I then paid more money to be moved to private lessons. since some of my group lessons ( which were the wrong class ) had already passed. I had to pay more for the same amount of hours I originally paid for.

They changed times on me again once in private classes. They refused to switch the ONE time I asked ( making me waste $50 which was the cost of one hour session )

After the most ridiclous money wasting experience I've ever had I tried to cancel any future hours I had. And they charged me 25 dollars to cancel private lessons I hadn't even booked yet.

All thought out this point I wasn't allowed to speak to anyone who was in charge or in any sort or manager / boss position

Biggest waste of time and money. They don't care about you or if you learn a thing. They care about money.
Make sure you read every little thing in the fine print because they charge you for everything !!!!

Alliance has welcomed me with open arms and connected me into the francophone community in a way I didn't know was possible. The cultural events are an amazing way to link into a vibrant community and learn the language through experience. The director and diverse staff are genuinely passionate about sharing the French language and supporting the cultural scene in Winnipeg. If you want to learn French while connecting with people and the arts, jump on it!
