My husband and I signed up for introductory lessons because it was something we always wanted to try. We loved it! One year later we’re learning so much and having fun together. We’ve met some great people and really enjoy the social aspect of it. The teachers are terrific, and they make everyone feel welcome.

It has been an incredible dance journey for Thomas and I, and we are so grateful for the fun, friendship, and learning Arthur Murray’s Oakville Dance Studio has brought to our family! I decided to write this review because so many people at work ask me about my love of dance but say they are nervous because they are afraid it is too complicated (they see how professionals dance in TV shows and movies), or they are worried about the cost. I am also writing this because at first my partner hated dancing but through our experience at the Oakville studio not only did he come to enjoy it, but dance unexpectedly brought us closer together with trust and collaboration (and we are already close)!

This studio is so friendly and the teachers have the perfect balance of being precise about learning a dance figure and also eager to give specialized advice if you are having difficulties understanding. There was never a time where we felt foolish for not getting a basic movement or for not practicing enough, yet at the same time there was always gentle yet firm encouragement to improve. For me, I slouch a lot because I am always bent over a computer at work, and our wonderful teachers Nickita and Artsvik were able to identify posture issues and give me great dance advice that even helps me in my life outside of dance. It is the same with my partner Thomas who can be too forceful or abrupt with his leading, causing me as a follower to overcompensate and end up leading the leader! Another thing that we really appreciated is that for us we do not have to switch partners – and I also noticed some people come in on their own and do not have a partner – the teachers are great about seamlessly and respectfully managing different expectations in group classes and we have never felt awkward or rude (some studios insist you switch partners in group classes or you have to have a partner to sign up).

It is also such a wonderful place to socialize and make new friendships. If you are worried about not knowing anyone when you join, or joining without having a partner to come with you, rest assured the students, teachers, and staff will extend a warm welcome and also make you feel at home every time you visit the studio. There was even a group social event that I was able to invite my elderly father to (he loved ballroom dancing with my late mother) and while he has not danced in decades it brought him a lot of joy to see young people beautifully dancing his favourite dances (which to him as a "Silent Generation" kid he thought was a lost art in the younger generations).

I have also noticed young couples joining to learn their wedding dance even if they don’t plan to stay long term. Artsvik and Nickita consistently create gorgeous routines that we students get to witness at party practices, and even with very simple moves it takes your breath away to see how beautifully the new students dance! I would say the teachers at this studio have phenomenal choreography skills and can tailor a vision to any student no matter what level as long as they take their lessons seriously.

As for cost, of course for high quality education and teachers it will be something that should be budgeted for. I cannot speak for all franchises however at Oakville specifically we are absolutely getting lessons from true professionals in the craft who have wonderful abilities as teachers too – world class education that I would compare to any respected university program. The Arthur Murray Oakville Studio is fantastic value for the incredible instruction, care, and social fun received in return. It can be a lifestyle if you like and expensive, or it can be a fun hobby at a reasonable price because you as the student can drive how you would like to structure lessons. I never felt any high pressure to agree to spending more than I was comfortable with, and if instructors are suggesting additional classes or experiences at this studio I do believe it is because they are passionate about improving your skills.

Signing up for a lesson at Arthur Murray Oakville is one of the best decisions I made. I had no prior dance experience, yet after just the first lesson I learned a lot of useful things and was already starting to feel more comfortable moving. The instructors are all highly skilled and have years of experience teaching Waltz, Tango, Salsa, Bachata and more!

Great experience in a good location by a knowledgeable staff. Super organized lessons that cater from beginner to expert. We started coming here prior to our daughters wedding and stayed on to enjoy our continuing improvement with our coaches and our new student colleagues.

Wow, wow, wow. I found Arthur Murray through a quick google search, as I was looking for a studio to practice a father/daughter dance for my wedding.

We had our lessons with Nickita and he is incredible. We did an intro package for 5 lessons and it was SO worth it. I haven't danced in years and my father is not a dancer. Nickita took his time to get to know us, our experience and even created an AMAZING dance for us (that also took into consideration my father's failing knee).

His expertise was very apparent. I'm blown away by the professionalism at Arthur Murray. I highly, highly recommend taking dance lessons here if you are considering it!!
