The chandeliers glare like interrogation lamps, the attendants look personally insulted that you dared to enter without powdered wigs and a title deed, and every price tag feels like a royal decree designed to separate you from your children’s inheritance. So when I saw Austen Jewellers’ storefront, with its Manhattan-posh façade, I braced for the same fate: elitism with a side of contempt.

Instead, I was blindsided by something no jewelry store had ever offered me before: elegance without arrogance. The air inside was perfectly climatized, properly humidified, and so refreshing it made me want to tip the ventilation system. That same “refreshing standard” extended to everything else in the experience. Laura, Kaitlyn, and Sarah greeted me with the kind of paradox you don’t recover from quickly: each looked like she had just stepped off a Vogue editorial spread, yet they welcomed me as if I had been expected all day. The head-spin of supermodel grace colliding with genuine warmth reset my entire definition of hospitality.

I had come to have a family ring appraised, fully prepared for the industry’s ritual two-week sentence of anxious waiting. It was so efficient, so professional, that I felt almost robbed of the misery I had braced myself for.

Austen Jewelers had been my go to store for those special gifts. I go there for several reasons. Elyse is an amazing ambassador for her store as are the rest of her staff.

I love the selection they have as it includes items in all price ranges and diversity of designs. I also found that the items I purchased were of good quality. I have also had them design items for me and are treasured keepsakes of high quality and design
