My eldest was present from kindergarten to grade 2, at that point the teacher tried their hardest to get her diagnosed with adhd, which the doctors indicated was not something she had. The math fundamentals meant to be taught in the first and second grade were not taught as the teacher was distracted continually and in turn, the students, by disruptive disrespectful kids. The teacher did not have the ability to handle disruptive kids which was to the students learning detriment. She was taught to read at home as the teachers couldn't focus on teaching. She has excelled being switched to a different district and the only extra attention she needs is to solidify the the fundamentals that were not adequately taught.
My youngest was only present for pre K, and she excelled due to her avid focus and attention taught at home to combat having similar issues of the eldest. The school tried to skip her ahead to give her a challenge, rather than realize their teaching methods and disciplinary methods are subpar. If you do not care for your child's education, and only want their hands to be held, this is the school for you.

My daughter went to Big Rock for kindergarten, grade 1 and 2, before we moved out of the area. Teachers, admin, support staff—all wonderful. We loved the building, too. It's a wonderful community.

I was among the first to attend Big Rock Elementary School when it opened in 1981/82. I was in kindergarten. Our mascot was a Badger. I didn't know how lucky I was to have the amazing facility we did until I moved to Kingston, Ontario where teachers didn't seem to care about the knowledge absorbed by the students. So I say Thank you Big Rock for a wonderful start to learning. I now supervise a restaurant, and love teaching my children all the values I learned at Big Rock.💖💖💖
