Chartwell Rosedale Retirement Residence - Brockville, Ontario

I will start by saying that this review is long overdue, but still very valid. In late 2022, our family was faced with the reality that our parents were not living as comfortably and securely as we had hoped, living on their own. They were very reluctant to make the move to a retirement community, but immediately after touring Rosedale and meeting a few of the staff - they became comfortable that it was the right decision. I cannot fully articulate how amazing and positive their (and my) experience at Rosedale was. Rosedale became their HOME...with their staff and residents becoming an extended family. Rosedale has a comfortable and loving environment with the most supportive and completely caring staff I have ever experienced.
My Mom suddenly passed away after a short illness only a few months after moving to Rosedale - and as hard as that was for all of us - the staff at Rosedale wrapped their arms around my Dad and made sure that he was well looked after and supported. After the progression of an illness, my Dad recently had to be moved to a long term care facility, and he was truly sad to leave Rosedale. This kind of family environment does not exist at every retirement home - Rosedale is very special. The staff and management should feel very proud of the community they have built there. I would highly recommend Rosedale to anyone facing the decision of moving to a retirement community.

As a minister my mom spent a lot of time visiting a number of retirement residences in and around the Brockville area.
When my father passed away, she decided that she could no longer manage living in her home by herself. She was absolutely certain that the best retirement residence in the area was Rosedale.
Throughout her stay there, she has really loved living there. The staff has always been caring and she has had nothing but good things to say about her accommodations and the food.
Originally, I had expected my mom to have difficulty with the transition, but she seemed to be at home almost right away. This was especially true after she met a new “man-friend”.
My mom would still be there today if it wasn’t for her needing extra care that goes well beyond what a retirement residence can provide. Even though she needed the extra care, it was hard to move her as she loved Rosedale so much.
Being so far away from my mom was difficult but I often conversed with the care staff and found them very kind and understanding of my mom and her memory issues.
All in all, her experience at Rosedale could not have been better. I would have not have any hesitation in recommending it to anyone looking for a very comfortable residence with a care staff that takes their job very seriously.

In late August of this year, my brothers and I faced a very difficult decision that many families face; our 93 year old mom was living on her own, but it was clear to us, Mom could no longer continue to live in her apartment. When we approached the idea of moving her to a "home" our mom's first reaction, was a strong NO. NO WAY, I am not ready!!!

But, my brother and his family took our mom to the Rosedale for a visit. Within 24 hours, our mom's tune had changed. She quickly noticed that the Rosedale was clean, the food was terrific, the rooms were a decent size and most importantly the staff was friendly and understanding. And mom noticed that the residences looked happy. She was sold.

It's been over a month since she moved in and as she told me, she is very happy living at The Rosedale. She loves it! Shout out to all the staff and to Becky who helped my brothers and I make the transition seamless. Thanks so much Rosedale staff!!!

After our grandmother passed away, our grandfather moved into the Rosedale. It was not easy and the idea for him was unbearable but somehow the transition went really well and he sincerely enjoyed his time there! The staff were so friendly and helpful to him and our family. Always nurses stopping by his room just to say hello, have a chat and check up on him. Our family felt eaze knowing he was well taken care of. When he passed, many friendly faces from the Rosedale staff came to his wake to show their respects. A very nice sense of community ❤️

My mom recently moved into Rosedale. It’s really a new chapter in her great life. And like any big change in life, or move, it can be stressful.

The things that are important to her are feeling safe and cared for, a positive, lovely environment, great food, fun activities, and kind and patient staff.

Rosedale has simply surpassed all of our expectations.

My brother and I have been there regularly to visit, join my mom for meals, and even for some of the activities. The staff are always so positive and wonderful. This helped to put us at ease as this was a big change in our lives too.

My mom is a “foodie”. My mom loves the food, and even the presentation shows the thought and care that is put in.

It’s so lovely to sit outside in the beautiful garden and enjoy the gorgeous view of the river.

We hear a lot of the “bad news stories” on the news, but I think it’s so important to share the good news stories. My brother and I are so grateful and relieved to see my mom fitting right in there, with a great quality of life, and enjoying life with her new friends.

All of the staff seem so dedicated and what they do is such important work. They are making a positive difference in the lives of the people who matter most to us.

An excellent place to live. The staff is kind and friendly. As a family we wish to acknowledge the staff for their dedication and express how much we appreciate all the Rosedale has done for us.
My parents especially enjoy spending time in the sun room or outside in the garden area, both which have a great view of the St. Laurence River.

All the care staff are so sweet and provide such excellent care for our friends and family that need a little help. Specifically the way Tina cares for my aunt, she goes on and on about her. Love this place ?
