We signed our kids up for half day summer camp the end of August. When we walked in the first day of camp, we were greeted and my kids were walked into one classroom. My oldest was registered for Coding your own cartoons and my youngest for STEAM adventures so thought it was odd they were in one classroom. It was lunch time so it seamed a bit sparce but chalked it up to it being lunch and assumed it would become more structured once the camp started. there were kids just milling around playing on ipads but I didn't see alot of interaction between instructors and the kids. Again assumed it was because they were on break. When i picked up my kids, my youngest told me that no one had interacted with her and she was just sitting in a corner on her own not able to sit by her sister. My oldest was doing coding but said she didn't get a lot of help from her instructor. Overall, i didn't feel like it was a good fit for my kids and we didn't return for the rest of the week. When I reached out for a resolution, I was told there was no withdrawal process and she would reach out to Microsoft to try to get a refund for us for the license cost for the coding program but didn't mention anything about the disengagement of my younger child. It is now October and I have yet to hear from them hence the review. Also, When I spoke with the owner about my concerns, I received push back from them suggesting that my children were lying about how much assistance they were getting from the counsellors. Even if my kids were shy to join in, we had done an entire summer of camps and my kids had not had trouble warming up and joining in eventually - this is common children behaviour and I would expect camp counsellors to find some way to encourage kids to warm up. I'm am really disappointed with this experience and have chalked the registration costs as sunk costs but definitely will not be considering any programs from this location of code ninjas in the future.

I’m honestly not sure what happened but somehow my child was the only one in camp, unfortunately it was not an ideal situation because he ended up sitting in a classroom by himself playing Minecraft for two days before we decided it was not a good use of time.

The camp seemed to lack any sort of curriculum, if that was a product of the lack of children or the facility, I’m not sure. My son played with no challenges, instruction or goals, he just played as he would at home.

We didn’t enrol him to be babysat as he could have stayed home and played Minecraft alone for free. I suspect for a parent who needed this camp as care for their child it not being canceled would have been appreciated but for us it failed to meet our expectations and what was outlined on the site.

It would have been ideal to be notified that the camp was under-enrolled and we could have moved him to a different camp since our hope was he would socialize and learn something.

The instructors seem kind and friendly, and also seemed confused by the situation. Overall, skip this camp.

We did reach out for resolution but have heard nothing back.

I can't speak highly enough about Darius at Code Ninjas! He is an absolutely spectacular teacher. His patience, enthusiasm, and genuine passion for teaching shine through in every session. Thank you, Darius, for making coding such a fun and enriching experience!

I decided to sign up my son for Code Ninja Ajax location.

I made the call to the centre, within 2 mins of our conversation, I knew, this is not the place I want my son to attend.

The receptionist was least interested in my questions, had absolutely no customer service experience. She just didn’t care. I thought she was having a bad morning and decide to call a while later. Unfortunately, I had the same experience again.

They definitely lost a customer.

Basic manners are crucial, I don’t think that’s too much to ask.

When we enrolled our kids in camp, we were expecting much like all their other camps this summer, a coordinated lesson guideline that sets out goals and training throughout the day and allows them to learn and demonstrate their outcomes of these lessons. Instead the days have been very open, allowing the kids to pretty much do what they want all day with 2 counsellors walking around to ensure that they aren’t doing anything bad. That is not the fault of the counselors, but comes from the top in terms of expectations.

As well, many of the normal checks and balances to ensure the safety of the children are not being met including signing them in and out, reconciling with our registration names and emergency contacts etc. Also, we would have expected a welcome lead up email before the week of camp outlining what to expect, what to bring, confirming drop off/pick up etc and received nothing of the sort other than the email invoice.

I’ve also been told by my kids that there has been a serious lack of discipline and responsibility over the kids with multiple swear words being used throughout the day...Both have expressed that although they don’t mind being on their own all day, that they are not learning anything really. At the end of the day, I find my son on Youtube kids which I understand might be an end of the day activity, but this without my permission since we don’t like our kids freely on YouTube at all.

My son also mentioned his friends in Minecraft class ‘sleeping’ with villagers throughout the day, and although it does not sound sexual in nature that is only due to the limits of the game and not their imagination.

I expressed my concerns via email and even took my kids out of camp the last day and have not heard anything from the location for over a week. I cannot recommend this place at all, beware.

I’m very happy to have my son registered for code Ninjas Ajax.
My son has learned a lot and it helped him focus and listen more.
Very friendly environment and great instructors and very happy with management.
Highly recommend it.

Just signed up my 8 year old who absolutely loves coding and everything computer and technology related and I honestly could not recommend this place enough! They have a fantastic facility and the owner and teachers are all wonderful. My son has never been so excited about learning before and it’s such a welcoming and nurturing environment. I’m so happy I was able to find him a place that has absolutely loves.

My child attended March break camp at Ajax location and it was a fun, learning experience. He created video games on Roblox Studio, he published about 7 games and we also played video games. This was his first time at this location and learning about video games. Thanks to all the code senseis that contributed to his experience.
