C.Y.O. Camp Brebeuf - Rockwood, Ontario

I wanted to bring forward many concerns about camp from this past week. I'm extremely disappointed in camp Brebeuf.
This was my sons first overnight camp experience, and he never wants to go camp again.

1. There was no hot water. How are these children supposed to have proper hygiene when there is no hot water available? This is a public health concern.

2. The bathrooms were not cleaned often, and some were not even able to be used. This is disgusting. Another public health concern

3. The food was awful. The portion sizes are not enough. The councillors had lots to eat but my son went to bed hungry more than once. This is a terrible thing for a child to have to go through.

4. The councillors were one their phones ALL the time. Shouldn't they be doing their jobs and taking care of the children? Safety concern.

5. Almost every night the councillors ordered food and brought it in the cabins. My son said it was hard to smell the food and not be able to eat any of it.

I'm heartbroken that my son had to go through this terrible experience. Not to mention how hard my husband and I work to provide for our son. We expected him to be taken care of properly.

He also has a ridiculous amount of misquote bites on his face! He's had a low-grade fever since he came home and a very raspy cough. I'm completely at a loss right now. The amount of money charged for camp, and this is the outcome. I will never recommend this camp for anyone who care about the well-being of their child.

I have worked with children for almost 15 years, and I can NOT believe a place like yours remains open. It makes me sick to my stomach.

The activities planned for this camp were ok, however my daughter doesn’t want to return next year and this is because of the staff… Most of the staff are teenagers, so the experience was kids, taking care of other kids and most of them were mean and had the worst attitude. They should hire adults with experience dealing with kids. Another thing my daughter didn’t like were the washrooms, they were super dirty the whole week and only cool water in the showers. The food served was good but the portions were small.

Horrific overnight camp experience for our son. Covered in mosquito bites, boys were forced to sleep outside while girls were given tents. Went to bed hungry while older councillors ate pizza in front of them. Non-device/electronic camp while counsellors walk around on their phones. Gave letters to be given to him during the week and they mysteriously “disappeared” and were never given to him. Terrible experience, will never return.
Would give 0 stars if possible.

you get what you pay for

some of the cabins aren't really up to date and the food can either be a hit or a miss but otherwise it's a very fun experience

wellness was very supportive and helped my tummy aches and let me eat a lot of cough drops

my counselor, tayo was great and all of the staff are cool

I MISSS DAVID, HE IS SO AMAZING AND FUN AND WAS THE BEST COUNSELLOR AT CAMP. HE WAS SOOOOOOOOO NICE AND HE TOOK CARE OF US AND INTERACTED WITH US, HE IS SO FLIPPIN' COOL. SO DAVID IF YOU SEE THIS, THE GROUP YOU HAD FOR STS. PETER AND PAUL MISSES YOU SOOO MUCH AND WE WISH YOU WERE THE FOR OUR LAST DAY. PS. WE BUILT A STICK FORT ON THE FIELD AND WE WISH YOU SAW IT AND TOOK A PICTURE WITH YOU AND ALSO AGAIN WE MISS BOTH YOU AND HARRY AND DAVID ITS ME IVIE.

We really enjoyed sending our children to Brebeuf. We heard lots of wonderful things until last summer. I was called regarding concerns daily that seemed to be typical behaviours from a you g child that needed redirection, and it seems that there were no adults on site only high school/university students running everything. I ended up picking my child up early, and was not engaged in any follow up conversation, and emails never responded to. As you're taking care of children, and responsible for their wellbeing this was very disappointing, and concerning. I would not send my child to Brebeuf because of this.

I went here for my Gr.8 grad trip a couple days ago and honestly expected worse, but it was actually pretty good for a camp. The food was good and you got a lot of variety. The cabins were okay. They had some rust and the cabin toilet wasn't the cleanest but there weren't any bugs (If you are worried about that). The councilors were all amazing and they never forced you to do any of the activities if you didn't want to. They had so much energy and they really tried to make it fun for all of us, so thank you! (P.S never forget bug spray lol)

Highly recommend summer camps for youth! Very positive and polite staff, and a very welcoming and inclusive environment! Safe space for anyone and lots to see and learn no matter what season!
