I didn’t dance growing up. I always wanted to. I started following dance code on Instagram but was too intimidated to go in for about a year. I finally came in and talked to someone at the front desk and she reassured me it was all good I had no experience and was very friendly. That was 3.5 years ago. I’ve been going to classes ever since. Dance code is one of my happy places. I have a membership and come a couple times a week. The instructors are talented af and lovely. So if you are on the fence about trying classes here come try it out.

They also have more advanced classes for people who have danced for years growing up that I can’t really speak on.

I also do their codettes performance based program and that’s fun.

In January 2024, I signed up for a 4-week pump class program that was supposed to end with a video. Unfortunately, almost a year, I still haven't received any updates from the instructor, Sarah Torkoly, about whether the class is still happening. I'm feeling frustrated because it was initially postponed because she had her baby early in December and had to delay the program. I've reached out a few times to request a refund, but the second time I did so, Sarah responded as if we had never spoken before, making me think she may have deleted our previous conversations. I'm hoping this message will bring to Sarah's attention and prompt her to issue a refund.

Update: still no refund.

This is one of the most talked about and visited dance studios in Edmonton. With a wide range of drop-in classes, a plethora of dance styles, and a vibe that oozes inclusiveness, it's easy to understand why. We tried the Burlesque Boom class which is basically a bootcamp style cardio class with elements of sexy burlesque woven in, and we also snuck in a lil' sample of the Beginner Heels class which is exactly what it sounds like - a dance class in heels - nuff said. Both were super fun, challenging and we worked up a serious sweat, although we would have loved to see a bit more Burlesque in the BB class. We docked half a star for location and for the limited pricing options but loved everything else and we'd definitely come back for more!

The Code is my favorite adult drop-in dance studio in the city, due to the warm and inviting atmosphere, the beautiful spacious studios and the amazing faculty. I always feel like I'm coming home when I enter their doors. The studio caters to beginner level all the way through to advanced, with a variety of styles. I love this place and if I ever move away from Edmonton, it will be the thing I miss the most!

Only go to the studio if you plan to pay on a per class basis. Otherwise you will never be able to cancel your membership and won’t be offered refunds. The instructors are nice and the studio is cool, but the customer service is a joke from hell. Not worth the nightmare when it comes time to pause/cancel your membership 🙁

Dance Code is a great studio focused on everything dance. They really have a dance class for everyone. Being able to drop into any style of dance is perfect. We can really try a lot of different styles or spend time perfecting a specific one. They have classes for all levels and even if you have never danced before, the culture there is so friendly they make anyone feel comfortable and welcome. I have decades of dance experience and my wife had no dance experience and we both found it so enjoyable to join classes that we were interested in. Great place, great classes, great instructors and great people.

I was so nervous my first time coming to this studio because I have never danced before in my life! But a friend convinced me and I’ve been hooked ever since! I love that there are a wide variety of beginner classes because I have been able to try out a bunch of different genres!! The teachers are fantastic and so helpful! It’s really such a positive environment there and love that the owner will get to know you by name. I love to dance there but what keeps me coming back is the wonderful Dance Code community!!

I've never been able to commit to a gym membership because I knew I would never stick with it, but I quickly got myself a membership to Dance Code Studio because all their classes are so fun and addicting! I started off with their boom classes which are fun (but very challenging) workout classes and lost 2" off my thighs in just two months! Then I began exploring their dance classes and even though I have zero dance experience, they cater to every level and make it very enjoyable. My dance abilities have improved which provided me with more confidence and allows me to participate in more difficult dance classes! All their teachers are highly knowledgeable, easy to approach, and extremely nice. They have a huge variety of different classes so I definitely recommend to try them out!
