My daughter just finished her 4 days of summer camp at Cottonwood Stables. It was my first time to this Stable. The property is nice. That said, I am alway shocked to see so many fields around a horse farm and not a single horse enjoying those, but that's a different story. The horses all seemed in good shape and health and calm for the beginner riders.
But that's as much positive things as I have to say.
On the last day they had a little show prepared and I was confused to see that my daughter's horse was led by someone. My daughter has taken lessons before and I have seen her ride in an arena by herself. She also just did a trail ride without a lead to the guide.
Now I was SHOCKED to see that the kids, who were not performing in the show at the time, had to stay in a little barn.
I didn't pay $100 a day (4 hours) for my kid to be stuck in a barn for at least an hour of that.
Plus the children would learn so much by just watching their peers perform. Why not let them?!
When my daughter performed, she didn't have a smile on her face. None of the people in the arena smiled at all. They all looked bored.

After the show my daughter showed me how she played with the young dog all week by having her chase the reflection of her watch. The dog had so much fun and it was so cute and funny that we all started laughing. But then this woman just came and took the dog away. Apparently she she was getting too crazy... or maybe because there was no fun allowed.

I should have known on the first day we arrived that it would be like this: no friendly "hello, how are you doing?" No smile.

Long story short: we will not be back, because the value for this camp was not there.

Cottonwood stables continues to rock the free world. An outstanding stable that is vigilant in ensuring that super young and beginning riders are as safe as they can be and on the lunge line as they are only 6 years old! This stable has spawned some pretty extraordinary riders! A++++++++
