Snapped my Achilles Saturday and went to the ER. Everyone was friendly, process was very efficient, and when they found out I was not from the area they managed to get me a follow up ultrasound appointment the next morning so I would not have to go back to ER closer to home on Sunday.

I truly appreciate how attentive, friendly and engaging everyone was - the triage nurse, the registration nurse, the radiologist, the doctor, the nurse who fit me for boot and crutches - and then the registration person and ultrasound radiologist the day after.

Many many thanks

The best, the wow the amazingly polite and most professionally respected staff, nurses and doctors. Had an exceptional experience in the emergency and D Wing staff. Best place to come for surgery, urgent emergency matters. Best doctor in Canada Dr. Lane Smith, trained with excellence nurses Sukhan and Jennifer in D wing. Thank you for an amazing experience and taking care with urgent timelines. Everyone at this hospital is super polite and positive. 9 hours in emergency.
I reached here around 2:30 pm and its 11 now and i am still waiting for my chance.
Kids are crying and old people are so tired and in pain but it does not affect the staff.
I am sure they also have limited resources but the shift which started around 7:30 p.m. sucks. They started at 7:30 and did not call in a patient till 9:00. What exactly you are doing for 90 min before calling a patient in.
This is all Trudeau and Doug Ford. They are responsible for this.

My four-month-old had been very sick for a few days and we'd already seen a pediatrician who diagnosed him with croup, said there was a bit of fluid in his lungs, and that if we were to go to the emergency room, to tell them our baby was under six months old so that they would see him quickly. When we took him in, we were treated very poorly. I told the woman at the front desk of emerg that I was told to let them know my baby was four months old so he would be prioritized, and she laughed in my face and said, "Yeah, that's not a thing." It was almost like she was smug or something about us having to wait for a long time? It was horrible.

When we finally saw the triage nurse, she was astoundingly callous and rude. Didn't make eye contact, didn't care. I know they see a lot of people but to act THAT callous to respectful, young, worried parents really pissed me off.

The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because every nurse and doctor we saw after the first two were very kind. Maybe don't have tactless employees working in such a sensitive environment as the emergency room.

My experience was overall very good at HHCC. I was triaged in just a few minutes, had bloodwork taken about 10 minutes later. Wait for a CT scan was about 4 hours, with results presented about 2 hours later. Longest wait was for the surgery, which was about 6 hours later. I was discharged around 3pm the next day. All in all I would say that everything went pretty quickly. There were plenty of nurses around after surgery to check vitals and check on beeps from the equipment. The biggest complaint I have is that the ER space was VERY cold due to the intake doors and the ER internal room doors being close to each other. The room temperature was probably hovering around 18-19C, which is very chilly when you are feeling sick and you only have a thin gown on. They ended up bringing me 4 blankets and even with that I felt cold.

I brought my wife in here for post operative complications and she could not stand had to be brought in a wheelchair due to the pain. Waited in emergency for 3 hours, but not complaining about that. My wife said to the nurse that she was here due to fever and conplications from the surgery (she was admitted the day before in Mississauga emergency due to over bleeding following her surgery from headwaters) and couldnt keep on sitting and asked for help reclining the waiting chair and the nurse asked her maybe she should stand up. The whole reason we came to the emergency was because she couldn’t stand up and walk when she should be able to

Only one doctor working in emergency and the nurses seem to think it’s funny when people are frustrated with the terrible service here. Do not recommend unless you’re actually dying. 4+ hours wait time in emergency during dead hours with no other patients for a concussion check. Not acceptable.

Currently sitting in emergency department going to be completing 13 hours
My experience:
2 hour for Triage
7.5 hours to see the doctor for barely 10 minutes
Tests were completed within half an hour
Waiting on results - 2.5 hours and definitely more

Staff is nice to talk to. However, that is not enough for the experience. When you ask them about wait times, their response is that ‘yes, the other person is also waiting for the same duration’

That’s a great response an already tired person wants to hear when they have been waiting on good 13 hours to get a diagnose.

The hospital needs to look into getting enough doctors to be treating the patients in their emergency department.
