Came here during the Winnipeg Fringe Festival with my family, where I saw some fun children's shows. While I can't speak of the regular programming here as I am an out-of-province visitor, what I can say is that this was a great fringe venue.

I have been taking my kids to every play since they were 5 and 7 years old and they really enjoy it. They provide 3 hrs parking at the Forks, so it leaves 1 to 2 hours to explore the forks after the play. We make a weekend afternoon of it and they always look forward to it.

never again. got enrolled into this theatre to try new things out because I needed more extra curriculars, safe to say one of my biggest regrets. I got wrongly accused of being under the influence just because I was a little hyper and safe to say I am not happy about it. I don't even do any of that either. honestly, I'm just gonna say do better and don't accuse kids just because they act different and or somewhat crazy. its called being excited.

Awful. I sent my son there and ended up taking him out after three days. My son is nine and he accidentally misgendered one of the employees and "they" angrily reprimanded and berated him in front of his fellow campers, basically bullying him. I also personally know of another non-binary employee that works there and she has a restraining order against her for stalking and harassment of a family I know. My experience of the young people working there is that they should not be around kids.

How come up indigenous people have to pay to get in . You clearly state you on our land treaty 1, homeland of the metis yet charge us ... while the Manitoba museums and fort Whyte alive and other places recognize this and wave fees for indigenous but not here . Yet praise and acknowledge that this is our land .

I used to attend MTYP a few years ago before I aged out and I could not recommend the musical theatre company enough. If you or your child so much as likes musical theatre, age 13 and up should audition! I have made lifelong friends and have developed such a love for the performing arts. I went to see this year's production of Urinetown and it was such a fun musical. The students learn so much and grow as people and performers; worth every penny!!

This is from the perspective of a parent of two children under 7. We've gone to 4+ shows in the past 2 years. After some bad experiences, we try to only choose shows that will be guaranteed to have music. Nevertheless, we're so very tired of shows that have minimal sets and costumes. In this last one, Narnia, it was honestly depressing. Aslan is supposed to be a lion and our kids were so confused by the actor who was simply wearing a carpet-cape. We're trying to teach kids to love theater and yet an average high school play / musical has better production values than an MTYP show. The director's monologue at the start of each play is also extremely tedious and monotonous. Could someone read the same script in a more upbeat voice at least? I watch the audience and see the bored faces of many, many young children. Some of them are literally falling asleep. I love MTYP and want it to be around for a long time, but seriously, something needs to change so our kids WANT to come to these plays!

The programs offered are fantastic! My kids have been attending for 3 years now and very much enjoy the classes and instructors. My only criticism doesn't really involve MTYP. Sometimes space is rented to third parties to use. This OK, but from my experience these groups frequently have a sense of entitlement while here. That us people here for actual classes are interfering with their activities. A friendly reminder that using this space is a privilege to these third parties may be needed. Thanks.
