Medicine Hat Licence Centre is the friendliest and most helpful licensing office that my wife and I have ever been to. We have lived in four provinces (Alberta twice) and seven different cities and we were genuinely surprised with the level of service that we received and it made us feel very welcome. As we have had to switch all of our provincial cards back over to Alberta after living in BC, it was a lot to change.

The staff was excellent and did a really great job. After having to deal with larger licensing offices, it was a lovely change to deal with a more personal, small town feel. I also appreciated the antiques, old photographs and the information about Medical Hat’s history.

It was nice to go to a license office that you don’t dread going too!

Sherri got us in 5 minutes after closing to register a vehicle when our insurance finally went through, so we could drive it home 5 hours. I can’t thank her enough for going the extra mile despite me feeling terrible for coming in after closing. She was very patient and nice and handled everything professionally. 5 star service.

Went here to get my car registered. First they told me I needed federal and out of province done. When I showed proof of the previous owners insurance and registration for Alberta, and tried to explain that the last registration place missed a single digit in the VIN they told me my bill of sale was wrong because it didn’t match the previous owners registration ( even though the bill had the exact vin as my vehicle like it needed ). Tried to tell me my car was last registered in the US, which was a lie because the car is not even legal in the US. They were extremely unhelpful and rude. Went to the NECH location the day after, vin got corrected in their system and I got my vehicle registered. The ladies here really need to learn a lesson on customer service and how to do their job. At one point I was at a desk with one lady, a lady from another desk came over to where they both went to another desk. I asked if they would like me to follow them over where I was glared at and ignored. Wasted all of my time and caused me a lot of frustration. Thankful for the wonderful ladies at the other location who were pleasant and helpful and actually willing to do their job.

This place is terrible. I made the mistake of taking my son here for his learners test. Never again. He was sat at a small desk with a very old computer then 3 different people came right beside him to do oral tests right in his ear. After failing his exam he told me he couldn’t concentrate and the computer caused him to hit the incorrect answers. Not only this but we then went to AMA where he passed his test first try with zero mistakes. Goes to show why this place is a dump.

I registered my vehicles online in order to avoid the line up. I got an email saying it was done and available to be picked up at their location. What’s the point of online registration then Had to go back twice as the lineup was to the door on first trip. I asked the lady (who was very nice) why it wasn’t mailed to me and she said it would have required a stamp and the business wouldn’t cover that. Years of supporting them and they can’t afford a stamp to mail it to me. This unfortunately shows the character and values of management and ownership

They have a lady who works here and she is not very nice. She talked snotty to me and to the customer before me. I see why their reviews are not the best.

The young woman was yelling at us for taking a candy from the place where they kept the candy for the children. everyone else has been very kind and told us that we are welcome to take a candy from the place because it is for the children. She displays a contemptuous attitude. Regretfully, it appears that she has some issues with our hue.

Fantastic service. Drove in from Brooks because service there is TERRIBLE. Will be using this office from now on.
