Dear NAIT Student Services,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received during a recent call to your office regarding tuition fees and the NAIT portal. Unfortunately, the individual I spoke with was unprofessional and abruptly ended the call without resolving my issue or providing the assistance I needed.

As a student, I rely on your support to navigate important matters like tuition fees, and this experience was both disappointing and frustrating. I expect a higher standard of professionalism and courtesy from NAIT staff, especially when dealing with sensitive or time-sensitive matters.

I hope this feedback is taken seriously, and I encourage NAIT to address this issue to ensure that future interactions are more positive and supportive for students.

I visited today to seek clarification regarding why my account was placed on hold due to unresolved payment issues. Unfortunately, my NAIT portal did not notify me of this matter until my program chair informed me that I could not be enrolled.

During my visit, the staff member assisting me was unprofessional, speaking to me in a raised voice and responding to my questions in a dismissive and defensive manner.

As a student seeking support, I expect to be treated with respect and professionalism. Students approach student services for assistance and guidance, not to be judged or treated unfairly. I hope this feedback encourages a more professional and empathetic approach to serving students in the future.

I have had nothing but plesant and informative interactions with the Student Services Centre. What I see here for complaints seems to be a lot of individuals that are either unforgiving of human error, or they take no accountability for their own mistakes.

Student Services is essentially a hub to connect students and potential students to the departments they require at NAIT, and to give some adive on courses and registitering for classes. They do not make decisions themselves about your qualifications, funding, or who is accepted into the course. I would go as far as to say they have one of the hardest jobs there is because they are essentially the go-between for all the departments and those that need to access them. They take all the heat for the decisions of others!!!

For those complaining about being bounced around and hoping the amagimation would cure things, I get it. It is frustrating. But being bounced around is common for large organiztions. The City of Edmonoton to Big Brothers and Sisters have done that to me. This will espeically be true during times of changes and people learnig new roles and other changes. Also, new changes, especially in large companies, takes a minimum of a year to iron out all the bugs. Plans on paper do not always work as they seem to on the drawing board.

The absolute worst customer service, I wish I could give less than 1 star.
There is NO simple way to contact this school. I am so frustrated with trying to get simple questions answered, that I will be withdrawing from this institution and going with Olds College.
When I pay good money for an education, I expect there to be convenient access to resources for students. Considering the exorbitant fees charged, there should be no issues affording staff to accomplish this.
100 percent dissatisfied.
UPDATE
I have waited now 2 months to get my 900.00 course fees refunded. 2 "tickets" submitted, and the only response I have received is a request for me to identify myself (this info was ALL included with the first ticket). Seriously, NAIT pull it together. I want my money back in a timely manner.

Dear Lord. what is going on?!!
I can't believe how hard it is to get your Transcripts if you are a student from way back.
If you are recent student, then they have an online way of getting your transcripts, but God help you if you haven't been their in years and some of your information has changed since your enrollment. It would be nice to TALK to someone to sort that out now wouldn't it?

So far my experience with the staff has been fine. The problem is getting to someone who can help. WHY doesn't NAIT hire more staff to help out?!?!?! Clearly they need it.
Can't they get someone from another department to help out?

It seems to me the problem is NAIT management. The receptionist seems to do her best to help and she has been helpful, but there is only so much she can do.

I also don't understand why they have a short time window in the morning to contact the Transcripts people, and then nobody takes your call in that department?
Normally there would be a automated call waiting system with either a call back option or an estimated time before answering.
Why don't they have one here? This isn't new technology. NAIT is a school the prides itself on Technology, and they don't even have call waiting service.

If Laura Jo Gunter (President and CEO) isn't too busy cashing in her paychecks, maybe she could look into this.

Also had a terrible experience recently. I'm a prospective domestic student who's done extensive research, and reviewed the frequently asked questions, so I reached out via a web form with carefully thought out questions and received a massive generic boilerplate response, that a) didn't answer my questions b) included information not applicable, such as international student info c) had grammar errors, repeated info, and looked unprofessional. There was also a link at the bottom of the response for: 'Appointment Booking - Recruitment - Future Domestic Student (nait.ca)' where you can browse a calendar for the next 3 weeks to book an appointment with a recruiter, but there are NO available appointments. Not a single one. Additionally, the 'Start Live Chat' button on the bottom of the Student Services page opens the same Contact Form I initially filled out and received a rubbish reply. The 'join the phone queue' link at the bottom of the page does nothing. There's a fax number, has it maybe come to this? This was the school I planned to apply to but my experiences so far have me questioning everything.

Called asking about getting my transcript from the previous year so I can start applying to different universities. Was told the first time I called to go to the student services website, and get ahold of the ‘live chat’ feature. When I went to the website the only feature was the email request option, so I called back confused thinking I did something wrong and asking for more information on where to go. The guy on the phone was rude, raised his tone, and spoke over me the entire time. I was respectful and calm the entire phone call. I was told that the live chat was probably just “closed” even though it says they are open until 3:30, and it was only 1:45pm when I tried the first time. I am upset & stressed after that interaction, and now worried I will not meet the deadline for applications.

Horrible. I am trying to transfer credits over from a program I took there 5 years ago. Because my creds only accepts current students I have to get a hold of the student service centre. They are so lazy and rude. Instead of assisting you they make you go on their website and click on a call back option. I tried today and it said it was over capacity on the website. This has held me back from applying to my program. I can’t imagine if I had a deadline as thankfully these courses are online. However I did want to start my program beginning of January. They were closed all through the holiday where other schools were not. This is an incredibly unprofessional system for an accredited school. Look at your 2/5 star reviews and do better. Thanks for holding me back.
