First I must say I didn't stay here, only stopped for a snack on our road trip. The apple pie and ice cream was okay. I had the sticky toffee cake, it was very good. The reason for the three star rating was the water in the hallway by the washroom and the washroom itself. The water on the floor should have been mopped immediately and if the leakage was that out of control it should have been addressed quickly. The washroom seems clean enough but definitely run down which makes me wonder about room conditions. I know it's not fair for me to comment on rooms sight unseen I feel that the overall atmosphere of the place is a little tired.
On the other side of the coin I feel that the food here is likely somewhere from okay to good. My dessert snack was certainly good.
So, my overall rating for the place is 3 stars.

Clean cozy and comfortable, is what I can say to best describe my stay here. They are renovating, the manager showed me what he is planning, and I cannot wait to see what the hotel will look like. The rooms are very large and spacious, lots of room. The food at this hotel really makes it worth the stay too. TRY THE WALLY BURGER its fantastic! The Staff are splendid as well. Will recommend this hotel to all my friends and family and to all of you.

When I arrived they told me the room was not ready. Came back 2 hours later, room was still not ready. David, the manager? apologized, offered me a break on the room rate. He sent the night audit guy to make up the room, then went himself to help out. When I got to the room, the beds were made, sort of. One bed was not sitting on the frame, the frame supports were sticking out and I had to flip the mattresses off, straighten the frame, and re-make the beds. There was a solitary mens dress shoe at the foot of the bed, as well as a black sock and some other garbage. The carpets were filthy, I'm not a neat freak, so if I say they are filthy, you can bet your bottom dollar they are. The bathroom at least was clean, but one of the lights was burned out, no biggy. I stayed two nights, they gave me $30 off. While I appreciate the effort the manager made to make my stay better, I would not stay there again.

Stayed here and upon arriving at around 9PM, was told there were NO ROOM available. I had made reservations about 3+ months in advance so I was flabbergasted. Everywhere else in town was booked up months before that even so hence why I was forced to try to stay there.||||The clerk finally gave me a key and when I checked the room, it was already occupied so back to the front desk where they had no idea what was going on. The 'manager' came and talked to me and gave me a sap story about how they had so many employees quit recently (the clerk had told me previously it was due to the owner being too cheap to pay them so 5 walked out earlier that week) but promised to make it right. By this point it's about 11PM.||||He began cleaning a room himself, since all his cleaning staff had quit and they had 4 employees, including himself and a cook, to work the 24 hours in the hotel and run the bar/restaurant. The room was finally ready around 1:30AM... Yes, nearly 3 hours to clean a single room! Look at the pictures from the review labelled "Engineer" below, I'm pretty sure that garbage is from the room he prepared for me.||||I stayed and checked out at 5:30 when I left for work. So a grand total of a MAX of 4 hours in the room. They gave me a "discount" of $20, still making the bill around $120 for the 4 hours I was able to use the room. Ridiculous! ||||Please do yourself a favor and don't give any business to this hotel or it's adjoining restaurant/bar. Sleeping in your car would be cleaner and more comfortable. This place should be condemned with how dirty it was. ||||Any good reviews you see for this place are very likely shill accounts by the manager/owner.

Absolutely gross. When I walked in there were dead bugs on the window sill. The vent in the roof was so full of dust that when I turned it on within 5 minutes I felt like my face was exploding. The bathroom sink faucet leaked all over the counter when used and the toilet had a bad seal that had it slowly running and making noise 24/7. The shampoo/soap dispenser was empty, and the provided ice bucket was great for the zero ice machine in the whole building. The halls are filled with buckets catching water dripping from the ceiling and so many room doors look like they been hacked at or punched in.

Like previous review, place is under renovation. Now, as for my stay I would recommend you do not stay here unless Athabasca has no where else with open rooms. Now to go into detail.. You walk in and the clerk at the counter has poor English and did not understand what a cot was, there were 3 of us and our room had 2 beds. She had to call her manager on her cell phone and ask what I was talking about cause she couldn't comprehend what I was explaining to her, having said that they discussed how much to charge me while I was standing right in front of her (Highly unprofessional, staff should be trained to know equipment and pricing)
Now to the room, stairs. You will be walking up or down stairs when you are on your way to the room (HEADS UP). Watch your footing when walking up/down the stairs as the floors are not completed inside the "Hotel" and the caps on the ends of steps are not secured properly. Upon entering the non-smoking room it reeked with smoke. Our heater in our room was a plug-in baseboard heater, did not keep the room warm at all. As we inspected the bathroom we could not understand how to get the shower head to put out water due to the complications with the plumbing inside the bathroom.. We were able to rotate the bath outlet 360 degrees while still pouring out water. Now for the most important part about the entire stay inside a hotel no matter where you go, the bed. As I took the comforter off there were stains, yes stains. The pillow covers covered the stains on the pillows as well, this is not acceptable at all. Floors stained, dusty furniture( whether it's from the renovations or lack of cleaning I am not sure). Needless to say I would rather sleep in my truck all night with it running rather than stay inside any room in this establishment.

I have been doing a plant shutdown in the area for 18 years. I always book a hotel from Monday till Saturday because I don't know how long the customer needs me for, and just check out early if need be. This time I was done one day early, and checked out in the morning. I received a call from the owner about 1/2 hour later saying that I had too pay the whole booking. She said that it was booking.com's policy, not theirs. I called booking.com and I was informed that it was not their policy, it's all on the hotel. I stayed on the line as the booking.com rep called the hotel for me, but she (the owner) did not answer the phone. I went back to the hotel after my shift, and she still said it was booking.com's policy. I called booking.com on speaker phone while standing there, and the rep said it was not their policy. She told the rep that they should have it on file that the hotel has the policy, still trying too blame them. Bottom line, the hotel has a no cancellation/no refund policy on bookings that they do not inform you about. If you reserve a room with a credit card and cancel, make sure you watch your statement for charges. Honesty goes a long way.||||The so-called Wi-Fi is just about nonexistant, the temperature could not be adjusted in the room, hot water was hit and miss, but the restaurant food was OK if you could get service.
