Event Details: The event at NWSS was something I had been looking forward to for weeks. It promised a gathering of friends, engaging activities, and a lively atmosphere.
Preparation: I had prepared meticulously. My outfit was chosen, directions were clear, and my excitement was palpable. I had double-checked the event details and was confident about the evening ahead.

The Journey Begins

Departure: I left my house precisely at 6 PM, ensuring I had ample time to reach NWSS by 7 PM. My route was planned using the most reliable navigation app, ensuring no room for error.
Unexpected Traffic: As soon as I hit the main road, I encountered an unusual traffic jam. A major accident had occurred on the highway, causing significant delays. My initial 20-minute drive now seemed like it would take an hour.

The Turning Point

Phone Call from Gabe: While stuck in traffic, I received a call from Gabe. He mentioned that he was hosting a small gathering at his house and invited me to join. I politely declined, explaining my plans for NWSS.
Detour Suggestion: Gabe, aware of the traffic situation, suggested an alternate route that would bypass the jam. I hesitated but decided to follow his advice, hoping it would save me time.

The Route Change

Following the New Path: I took the suggested detour, which led me through unfamiliar neighborhoods. Initially, it seemed promising as the traffic lightened, and I started to regain my lost time.
Navigation Issues: However, midway through, my navigation app began to malfunction. It recalibrated several times, each time providing a slightly different route. Confusion set in, and I found myself circling the same area.

Checking the Time: By now, it was already 7:30 PM. Realizing that I was not going to make it to NWSS on time, I pulled over to reassess my situation.
Second Call from Gabe: Gabe called again, this time offering more specific directions to his house. Frustrated and realizing the futility of my current endeavor, I decided to accept his invitation.

Arrival at Gabe's House

Warm Welcome: Upon arriving at Gabe's house, I was greeted warmly. Despite my initial reluctance, the atmosphere was inviting, and the company was pleasant.
Unexpected Enjoyment: The evening turned out to be enjoyable. Gabe's gathering was intimate, with engaging conversations, good music, and great food. I reconnected with old friends and made new ones.

Missed NWSS: While I missed the event at NWSS, the experience at Gabe's house was unexpectedly rewarding. It taught me the value of flexibility and the potential for unplanned events to bring joy.
Learning Points: The night highlighted the importance of being adaptable and open to change. Despite meticulous planning, unforeseen circumstances can lead to equally fulfilling experiences.

The faculty are trying their best under the circumstances, my heart goes out to them, but this school struggles to control drugs, violence, weapons, gang activity, vaping on campus, dangerous washrooms, difficult behaviours and attitudes in it's student base and overcapacity. I can only compare it to public highschools in Anmore and North Van, but the difference is night and day. New West is densifying rapidly, and the social supports aren't yet there. I'd like to see an in-depth demographic study to determine the core issues and a targeted plan to help at-risk youth and maintain a safe environment for everyone.

我自认为是一个格局大的人 在这个学校呆了一年 只能说坏的事情多于好的事情 这里的人太奇怪了 各种歧视和霸凌 如果要把你的小孩送来这所学校 还是算了吧 除非他有强大的社交和屏蔽外界的能力

差评 啥破学校啊 课程表都能出错 这种低级错误也会犯…我现在连课程都换不了 要上这个错误课表一两周 我下午连课都没有 这是浪费我时间呢 开玩笑呢这个学校

The new school was built for 1,900 students. About 3-4 years later people can’t get the classes they need because we now have over 2,400 students. They had a $106 million budget and that’s just 1 thing, I could go on and on about how bad this school is.
(only public high school in new west btw)

There are so many opportunities to improve my English skill, but it seems like the information is not that clear, such as the class on collaboration day , snowing day, and the last day of summer vacation.
Anyways, I love this school and the teachers here, so I’m willing to graduate this school.
My favourite subjects are chamber choir, cafeteria training, and foods. Foods in cafeteria are delicious!
Oh ,and we finally got wifi:)

New Westminster Secondary School truly lives up to its reputation as the best. Not only does it offer top-notch education, but the people here are also exceptional. From the dedicated teachers to the friendly students, the supportive community at NWSS makes it a standout institution.

Edward Hall

4.5 stars, it is a very spacious new building, noting the area I visited yesterday. Big enough to get a special gathering and then some. Appears to have good circuit facility or running oval.
