People at desk were nice to talk with, and counselling services were great. If you want to do the LPN nursing course, please do it somewhere else. The course offered here was a joke, and had Amateur teachers. Barb McPherson (Nursing Chair) was not helpful and showed heavy bias towards the teachers when a concerned was brought towards them, especially those who were very rude, and were power tripped. Overall a very mediocre experience. Can't speak for the other courses. But please lean towards VIU if you actually want to learn Practical Nursing.

The LPN program was disappointing to say the least. Teachers seemed to come and go as Port Alberni NIC could not seem to hold onto any one professional LPN instructor for any amount of time. Feedback we had from several students were that the teachers methods were inconsistent. One teacher in particular seemed biased, unfair, and unprofessional, even lashing out at patients in a healthcare environment. When we and others complained to the chair about said teacher, we were met with blind and fierce defence from an understandable point of view that the institute is likely desperate for teachers and wouldn't dare lose an employee to "simple student feedback". Teachers actions have had a direct negative impact on students experience, grades, and their opinion on nursing. Students have dropped out of nursing altogether assuming the toxicity experienced at NIC is what to expect in the professional industry. Although we have moved on from NIC and haven't looked back, the experience still hurts. It is no surprise NIC is currently hiring for 4 different LPN/healthcare teacher positions in a small community college with hardly any student chairs. This alarming turnover should be a warning to anyone considering applying as a student. We have been warned by professionals in healthcare to avoid NIC for the lPN program and now we know why. Spend the extra and commute to VIU.

Julian Benedict, the project lead, is a great asset for NIC. He is amazing. He knows all the answers to every bit of your questions. Thank you, Julian! It was a great pleasure having you along my digital marketing course.

There are several amazing staff members at the Port Alberni campus; one I want to sing praises for today is Felicity B. She's AMAZING. She is approachable and comfortable to speak with, and she clearly cares for the students as well as the campus as a whole. DEFINITELY a win for NIC having her employed there!

Terrible experience for people with "diverse abilities" and applying through their accessibility and inclusion department. Staff unprepared to support neuro-diverse learners. Avoid the trauma to yourself as a student/parent.

More effort was put into making the school beautiful instead of an efficiently built school. Gotta keep the natives happy or else.
