Overall my son was very happy with his experience as a Royal on the 14U major team this past season. First year in the league. Coaches are fantastic. My son really enjoyed the Florida trip. Being able to practise in 23 degree weather in late January was amazing. There was a tonne of reps against very good competition all year. Coaching staff was always really patient and was great with all the kids. When I grew up playing competitive sports, it was a different time where most coaches went from zero to yelling in a matter of seconds. Royals coaching staff was very different, at times they spoke and meant business, but it was always very respectful. For a sport where you hit a ball, catch a ball, throw a ball and run, sounds simple right? It’s the mental part of the game that makes or breaks a great player. Royals coaching staff was incredible in teaching the mental side of the game. Looking very forward to the next chapter!

If your child is interested in becoming a first class baseball player than I would suggest none other than the Ontario Royals. As a part of the Premier Baseball League of Ontario (PBLO) my son traveled to many US tournament and played College and University level teams in which the Royals held their own. Great coaches and a great organization overall at all levels.

***Beware***
Unfortunately we learned the hard way and spent 20k and 2 years with the Royals. They care more about making money than development of your kid. My son has been playing travel baseball since he was 7. He loved baseball and sadly Royals slowly stripped his love for the game away from him. Coach Ivan should not be a coach. They are ok with making derogatory remarks, demeaning the boys, and celebrate wins (which didn’t happen often) by taking the boys to Hooters! The practices are a joke a lot of standing around because they are so cheap and have multiple teams practice together. When you travel good luck finding out info well in advance, it’s usually last minute and your stuck paying high fees or travelling longer to get to games because Matt books group stuff last minute or as cheap as possible to save himself a buck. Travelling to FL is a joke for the boys. They are forced 4 to a tiny room, baseball 8-10 hours a day and feed them fast food all week! No down time. Most kids said they hated the FL trip. They make empty promises to get you to sign and then don’t care. They don’t do check ins with kids, rarely, the strength and conditioning is a joke, no super vision. No mentorship. Extra work is a joke, no one to help or correct if kids do go in. Not to mention the extra work time is impossible. 330 to 530, parents work! The one good thing was Coach Tyler. He is nice and cares. Disappointed to say the least 2 years they slowly stripped the love of the game from my son who had tons of potential when we first signed. They did not develop him as they promised nor did they care. Shows how much my kid was just a number💰There are better organizations out there. I could go on and on of all the reasons why this organization is not good, but I will spare you. If I could give zero stars I would.
Note: I never right reviews. I did this time to warn other parents that other baseball organizations exist that are way better. I’m not the only parent who left and many did. There is a reason why the Royals teams are always new kids, because the old kids left unhappy. Oh and look at the stats, year after year Royals at the bottom. Not to mention when was the last time they helped a kid get a scholarship? That’s what they promote. 🤔

Note: Beware!!! I see they have asked about 10 players to recently give 5 star reviews to boost the overall rating. Don’t be fooled! This was done shortly after my review. What a joke!
