We stopped in to ask a quick question, which led to more questions and before we knew it we had spent 10+ minutes learning alot of interesting things about the area.
The young people were very friendly and informative.

My daughters and I were walking around Cow Bay checking out all the hip gift shops and literally walked into the visitors center to use the washroom.
I asked one casual question about Haida Gwaii which was our next destination and before I knew it I had two well informed staff giving me advice. Both were very generous with tips and suggestions and couldn’t be kinder. One woman went so above and beyond she recommended an amazing restaurant we enjoyed before our ferry sailed to the island. She gave us excellent intel on the BC ferry we’d sail on because she once worked for the ferry corporation. Everything she told us about Haida Gwaii proved to be incredibly accurate.
Days later my oldest daughter still cited this woman as a role model because she too was thinking of going to school for tourism and hospitality as this staffer had told us she had done in Vancouver.
I’ve stepped into tourism centres all over the world and have never had such a positive experience. Prince Rupert may not be everyone’s first pick as a destination but don’t tell these women at the visitors center because they sold it like it was the number one stop in Canada. Well done ladies.

Good area information and nice displays. Helpful staff! Museum quality displays, video presentations and information about the port and various local industries and history. Maps and area information. A great resource. A good first stop when you get to town. Good bathrooms and water bottle filling station.

This office should really be the First Port of Call for any tourist or visitor to the Port City of Prince Rupert. You can get all the information regarding the sight seeing places, hotels and restaurants in and around Prince Rupert, in the province of British Columbia. It is located in the Cow Bay district, very near to the docks where the cruise ships to Alaska sail from. The staff here is friendly and eager to answer any queries you may have. It also showcases the history of the region and how the port developed into one of the prominent ones in North America.

Excellent place for information about the area and the importance of the Port of Prince Rupert. Staff were very nice, though this was the only visitor centre on my trip that did not have any kind of shop. To be fair, there are several great shops in town, so not entirely needed I suppose. 🙂
