This school is fine. Not good. Not totally bad.

The options programs are limited but well done. Cafeteria is 9/10. Disappointing that the musical theater program got completely changed this year, making it almost impossible for some people to be part of.

Any reviews mentioning Ms. Mann no longer apply, as she has left. The vice principles are both reasonably nice. The principle is fake nice, but not completely awful.

Teachers are polar - some of them are genuinely good people who care about their students and make sure they are providing the best education they can. They make sure that no one is falling behind and that students are set up to succeed, and make sure to check that the class is understanding the lessons, including going back to review older concepts to help everyone get to where they need to be.

Others neglect certain classes in favor of putting more time into others. Teachers have directly ignored my accommodations. Tell me how a struggling student is going to succeed better than a student who’s paying attention and just so happens to be listening to music when the teacher isn’t talking? Note that I had an unusually low grade in that class. When I brought it up later in the year, I was told that I just need to find a better coping strategy. I mean- really? I should just give up the only coping strategy that ever worked

The student services staff are generally unhelpful. They are okay to talk with about course selections, but are liable to call parents over the smallest concerns. They tend to be stuck in their own beliefs about certain things and unwilling to accept a student’s own opinion on certain things, like how trustworthy or reliable parents are. The power of family is not a thing for every kid.

There are no consequences. Kids can say slurs, and if a teacher hears it is almost always ‘please don’t say that around me’. No problem with them saying it in general. This includes homophobic, racist, and suicide related jokes. How is this okay Staff need to be taught how to deal with comments like this. And there need to be real consequences. Instead of ‘okay, you’ve said this seven times, we need to talk about this’, it needs to be a strict ‘one strike, warning, two strike, call home, three strike, in-school suspension that involves educating the person on why the comments are a problem’. Checking the time on a phone is more serious than someone yelling a slur at another student. I’m sorry- what? Pathetic.

I often get the impression that the physical education teachers at this school prioritize fitness over the overall well-being of their students, which is particularly concerning for someone like me who has asthma. It's frustrating because my condition sometimes limits my ability to participate fully in certain activities, and I wish there was more understanding and support from the staff in that regard.

Additionally, the school's policy regarding phone usage feels unfair. It's frustrating that we, as middle school students, are not allowed to use our phones while the high schoolers can. This policy feels especially out of touch considering that we are part of the only school in Calgary that serves grades 7 through 12. It would be nice to have that same level of freedom and communication as the older students.

Furthermore, my experiences with the teachers here have been quite mixed. While some are genuinely kind and supportive, there are others who come off as mean and unapproachable, making it hard to feel comfortable asking for help or voicing concerns.

Overall, my experience at this school has been quite disappointing, and I would rate it a mere 1 out of 10.

so yeah nooo… first off the teachers here care more abt education then the students health. Also the bathrooms are filthy, one of them was infested with lice and the teacher didn’t care. The principal does not know how to do her job. The school itself is basically a bad dad joke. I don't get why people hype this school up too much. It's actually so stressful. The teachers are plain rude to you bi matter how polite you are. They only like the rude loud people, I mean seriously, I'm starting to think they're into being degraded. The art teacher made me cry so many times, they really need to get her out. I don't know why teachers don't like you, no matter how much harder you try then otherpeople.
