Today my boyfriend had surgery and I can’t thank these amazing nurses enough in the surgical day care… they were so kind and professional to us and extremely patient with everything answered all of our questions and even when there was certain protocols that needed to be followed they were very respectful and polite about everything… I’ve had extremely horrible experiences at surrey memorial but the RCH health care team was absolutely amazing.. and apparently DR MacDonald was such a great doctor from what he told me great bedside manner, kind , and compassionate which made the surgery go by even faster.. everyone involved in his care today deserve the most appreciation for all of their kindness and hard work!!! From what I’ve witnessed today this is true nursing, and medical care!!!

Had an MRI twice in Royal Columbian Hospital. Had amazing experience. Nurses are friendly and they will not let you feel scared and worried. Although MRI takes an hour but no complaints at all. At that time that we came in was a bit hard to find free parking. There’s a pay parking across the street nearby emergency entrance.

I wish I could put 0 stars on this hospital. I got back surgery done on Thursday, and the surgeon was amazing, but the nurses were horrible. They were very rude and wouldn't give me enough pain medication even though I was getting very dizzy from it. Then on Saturday they kicked me out of my room because they needed it so I had to stay in the hallway and I felt very uncomfortable because it was very busy there. They were very rude and unhelpful throughout the whole situation. When I decided to leave the hospital, they wouldn't give me my prescription to get my medicine to make me stay they. They told me if I leave they wouldn't give me the prescription unless I stayed in the hospital. I didn't want to stay because i was feeling very uncomfortable because so many people kept walking past me, and I felt like I had no privacy and I was in a lot of pain. One of the nurses even encouraged me to report the head nurse. She told me that they're only kicking me out of the room because someone else wanted a semi private room, and they wanted to charge that person too. I wanted a private room, but they said they didn't have any open rooms. My wife walked around the section we were in and saw multiple open rooms with no one in them when I got out of surgery. They also wouldn't bring the food to my bed even though I told them I couldn't carry anything heavy at all because my doctor told me not to carry anything over 3lbs.

I recently became a new mom, and now I have the time to write about my experience. Last week, I gave birth at Royal Columbian Hospital, and it’s a memory I’ll cherish forever. During labor, nurses Angie and Anna were by my side, patiently waiting with me as I progressed. They brought me apple juice, helped me change positions, and carefully monitored the readings on the equipment. I’m so grateful for their dedication.
On the night after delivery, nurse Joshua’s help moved me deeply. He thought carefully about how to help my baby feed, and after several attempts, he finally managed to give my baby his very first feeding around 11 pm. Throughout the night (I don’t think he rested or slept), he continued to change diapers, clean my baby, help me get out of bed to move, and regularly gave me pain medication. I remember all his kindness and care.
I also have to say a huge thank you to the doctor and anesthesiologist who performed my C-section. Even though I didn’t get their names, their professionalism and warmth left a lasting impression on me.
All in all, my experience at RCH was unique and unforgettable, and I’ll carry this beautiful memory with me forever. I want to thank everyone at RCH once again.

Completely shook after my recent visit there. I have a skin condition that causes excruciating pain. I went to the ER bawling my eyes out, shaking, and barely able to walk. I explained what it was to the reception person, then when the nurse called me he says "so you're here for a bad migraine?" I told him NO, not even close. It's a skin condition and I'm in excruciating pain. I told him what it was and he had never heard of it and had me write it down for him. I was told to wait in zone 2 and was there for 6 hours crying and shaking. At no point was I offered any pain meds, which I later found out through the survey I probably should have been offered this by the nurse within 60 minutes... they called a large group of us in and I was put in the back of the queue, I overheard the order we were in and saw every person waiting there except 2 people be admitted to the rooms. I finally got to the room and was waiting in there for over an hour and a half. I thought they forgot about me so I opened the door and asked the nurse if the doctor was coming soon. Again. I was crying and shaking. He looked at me and said something along the lines of " I can't tell you that, the doctors around." No care what so ever that I was bawling my eyes out in pain. I felt so defeated and horrible for the way I was being treated as if I wasn't suffering. No one else in that line was crying or looked like they were in any sort of pain like I was. I was shook by this and couldn't take it anymore, if this is how I was being treated I didn't want them touching me. I would rather suffer in pain at home where I can at least take pain meds. I got up and walked out, barely able to walk. I asked a lady where to exit, she showed me and tell said rudely "are you a patient that's leaving" I looked at her in tears and said yes. "Whats your name" I gave her my last name and she didn't say a word, didn't care that someone who is crying and can barely walk is limping out. This the most painful skin condition in the world (legitimately) and causes me a lot of shame and embarrassment to begin with but this posting is worth it because I hope no one else with my condition gets treated this way.
To be treated like I did made me feel horribly depressed. I expected at least to be treated decently at a hospital with a good reputation.

I had my baby Oct 16th via c section and I can say it was truly an awesome experience. Dr Nowik, Dr Ableman were fantastic , the nurses, anesthesiologist and all support staff made my partner and I so comfortable and made the delivery of our baby girl so seamless and special. The staff at recovery was amazing, thank you Barb for being so attentive and helpful even though you guys were super busy! Maternity staff over the 2/3 day stay was awesome. You are all very helpful, informative, and polite. Ursula, Jane, lactations nurses thank you guys again, I’m sorry I can’t remember everyone’s names but thank you all for the special experience and help!

One piece of feedback for upper management who divy out supplies, but please allow for more underwear/briefs for the new mamas. 1-2 pairs was not enough for oopsies of leaking out the sides to wear. It’s nice to feel clean when changing. Thank you! 🙂

The word "emergency" what does it mean? These people do not know.
If you have a cut or some injury that needs immediate attention get ready to wait for 5 6hrs and still keep waiting.
And again once you get in. Again be ready to wait more and you will forget why you are even here.

But the doctor was really good. Very kind.

Today I was here and there was lady stressed out came out from emergency unit and she was trying to talk with the security . The security wasn’t able to handle the situation thank god there was nurse came and took her in . Once RCH was a leading hospital and it had its standards now it’s gone to the garbage. Hire proper people to do their job. Waiting time takes forever.
