This was our last hotel stop on our alcan trip, and it was the nicest! The only downside is that it’s 20 minutes off the highway. After the trip we had though, it was worth it for a nice stay. The rooms were big & clean. We finally had enough towels for all of us. Pet friendly. Nice showers. Lots of parking for big vehicles. Our room even had inside and outside access which was very nice with the dog! Would stay again if ever in Mackenzie again.

The motel is not a 4star motel. It's all used furniture and every hotel is owned by the same arrogant owner. Stay at the Williston motel it's way better.

Flew into the Mackenzie airport recently and was pleasantly surprised with what a wonderful hotel the Royal Oak is. I’ve stayed at a lot of big name hotels lately that don’t compare to the comfort, quietness and most importantly the cleanliness of the rooms at the Royal Oak. Friendly staff as well. Beds, carpets, bathroom were all immaculate!

So we called them and asked if they had senior rates yes was the reply. So we went over to book a room, when we arrived they took our ID and said oh sorry you have to be over 65 and you’re only just over 60. We said oh ok well we’re performing at the Legion and Laurence the President said if that’s a problem to just put it under his name, as he’s 75. So then we’re told we’ll go get him and bring back, he’ll have to physically be here and show identification. Now the owner of all these Mackenzie hotels went to school with Laurence, and everyone in town knows him. So we left and they could have cared less fortunately we ended up staying at the Mayor of Mackenzies bed and breakfast, which was awesome! But the attitude at that hotel was disgusting, the hotels in this town have no idea of how to treat a guest, it’s pitiful.

Stayed two nights recently. The hotel staff at the desk were friendly and very helpful. ||The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Considering the hotel was full there was not much noise in heard in our room. They also provided a continental breakfast which had good variety. Only complaint is I wish the room had darker blinds, but that was a small inconvenience. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a GREAT hotel, I've stayed in lots of hotels over the years from Marriots and Four Seasons to dumps that made me very nervous. I was so impressed with this hotel in Mackenzie I had to review it. Simple hotel, basic, NOTHING fancy but VERY well done, VERY clean, great staff, nice bed, NICE towels and linen. This is a well run highly recommended hotel. ||In addition there is a decent (actually better than decent!) Pub about 50 meters from the hotel - "The Office Bar and Grill".

The soap dispenser for shampoo was empty (great thing to discover while in the middle of a shower), the maids made our beds but left everything else (including no fresh towels)?

The biggest problem for me though was that their website clearly states continental breakfast available, and we were leaving early this morning (8am, not 5am) for the ski hill, but apparently we found out when we went to eat it that there is no continental breakfast on Saturdays.

But, even with those annoyances, I would still come here again because it's new feeling, very clean, and incredibly quiet.

We stayed here for one night after skiing at Powder King. Friendly staff. Location was great. Right on the main road as you come into MacKenzie. Check in was quick and easy. We had a ground floor room and it had both interior and exterior doors so easy to bring luggage in but don't have to brave the outdoors if wanting to go somewhere inside the motel. Rooms were clean and spacious and still new. Breakfast was simple but plentiful and we were very happy with it. In all, had a very nice stay.
