Seasons Retirement Community in High River - High River, Alberta

My Mom and Dad moved to the Seasons High River about 2 years ago. Mom was on the assisted living side and Dad on the independent side. The ability to be together daily in the same facility was very fortunate. Mom's health slowly declined till passing last month. Dad's health was great until a sudden diagnosis of an aggressive cancer and passing last fall. I spent a lot of time at the Seasons visiting my parents and found all the staff very kind and helpful. From the easy things, booking a room for family to visit in; to the difficult, phoning to let you know your parent had a fall and is being sent to the hospital. The experience, for me, was very comforting and reassuring. Mom and Dad both mentioned; they were in a good place with good people to look after them.

Dad has been living here for a little over a year now & has received great care, meals & activities to partake in. Our only complaint is Lu.V the current manager she has no empathy with our father & his declining care. Rules the staff that do care for him with fear. Wrong person to represent my dad & his neighbours. Discourages my family from gifting chocolates to the Nursing station says that it will show favoritism. This is my dad’s cottage.

Managers are covering things up big time. There is no accountability for lazy staff that sleep on night shift and allow old people to fall and eventually die from that fall.

Great staff caring for my great uncle management does not recognize how much they care considering how I've overheard them speak to staff. So sad.

Jeanie was so lovely to talk to on the wonderful tour we had with her in Seasons. She made us feel like today is the day we should move in. Looking so forward to our next Journey in life. Joan💜

I have a family member in Seasons High River, and in the last year there has been 4 incidents of negligence. Unreported injuries that they cause, failure to have the patient see a doctor after a fall and significant hit to the head and more. Patients complain daily that dinners are horrible. There are some staff that do genuinely care, but upper management has a huge rate of turn over, the GM shouldn't management a 711 let alone a facility that cares for hundreds of seniors. I sadly can't wait until my family member requires more care so we can move them to a better facility. Never put a loved one here. You are paying huge money for horrible care.

This is based on the intake and move in process. The people on the floor have been quite good, but management has been less than good. I would give negative stars if that was possible.

The first meeting went well, but looking back should have been a red flag. The communication has been poor. Things I was told would be okay, are not allowed. An example is they have Shaw onsite for cable and phone. Since the phone costs three times what mom was paying with Telus, I said I would keep mom on Telus and send them in to hook up and was told it would be okay. When Telus was there hooking up the phone, the manager refused and sent them off site. He then called me to say I had to use their on-site landline for three times the price. This feels like extortion, and is just one example of things they have done. If AHS had offered another alternative in town I would definitely take it.
