I have been coming to the dance studio for the past number of years. It started out with my youngest granddaughter taking a toddler dance class in the morning. The studio was bright and cheery and Miss Sam was ver welcoming. My granddaughter and the other little dancers adored her and were excited to do what was shown to them. My little one was so comfortable that she even sat on Miss Sams lap when they were talking. The moms and siblings were encouraged to watch and enjoy.
I know many of the dancers that dance at the studio and love the teachers and all they learn. Its made to feel like a fun safe place. If youre looking for a studio look no further than here. They will get the attention and time they need and they will have so much fun while learning.

This company lacks professionalism. I had a party booked for my daughters here and could not have been more disappointed. It was very evident our party had been forgotten about (even though I had paid my deposit!) as nobody was there to unlock the door. I had to call multiple times and message them on instagram and then they finally sent someone over (who was on her lunch break from giant tiger!). This employee left after setting up some tables and blowing up a large balloon. As my guests were arriving, I was still setting up which was frustrating. The owner (so I am told) arrived after 1 and had a very argumentative demeanor, stating we could only arrive 10-15 minutes early for prep, yet our emails state otherwise! Anyhow, she was there AFTER the party had started! She brought two teenagers with her to help with the ballet portion of the party who only played games with the kids, there was no dancing which disappointed my daughter. One of the teenagers was in a crop top and shorts which showed her lady parts whenever she bent or squatted. I am surprised there was no dress code as they are working with children! The owner ended up leaving at some point and left everything to these teenagers. I ended up receiving a call from the owner later on in the day after I sent a message to them on instagram complaining about the service. She stated that they usually have a dress code but it was last minute and I should be happy they could find anyone! I booked this party three weeks prior! This is when I was informed that our original dance instructor had been in an accident. Even so, if the last minute help showed up in inappropriate attire, the owner should have stayed and took on the role. I truly hope the accident was an excuse and did not actually happen, however they should have stated that in the beginning, or even gave me a call prior to the party so we could adjust times. I would have been accommodating if it meant I'd receive a trained dance instructor who was dressed appropriately to be around children. They were very unprepared and unprofessional. I was even advised by a party guest to reach out to the better business bureau as nothing advertised for the birthday party was appropriately provided and their lack of organization, compassion and professionalism was evident to the guests. My daughters were enrolled to dance here for the summer and I will NOT be taking them.

If I could give this place a 0 I would. I paid $600.00 for summer camp. When I arrived on the first day the door was locked and when a staff member finally came to the door she looked like she didn't know what was happening all she talked about was how dirty the place was. I left and within 2 hours and I went and picked up my daughter. The staff member then said that my daughter looked like she had bad anxiety the whole time. I Spoke to owner all she did was give me the run around about a refund or credit wouldn't even give half of my money back or give us a credit for a dance class. So unprofessional do not waste your time or money!

Unfortunately my daughter started her dancing career at this studio and became one of the top dancers according to them.
As she was half way through her competitive programming this year she had to change studios for a ton of reasons.
Thank Goodness she got out of there when she did because she was taught WRONG. As I watched her being taught at another studio. With years of experience not just recreational dancing. My daughter was not taught how to execute a dance step properly.

The Owner talks behind customers backs should you not pay your fees and picks her favourites .
And should you disagree or have a slight problem with her , She will take it out on your child.
Now I will say The Acro teacher is amazing but if she ever leaves that studio will have no proper teaching skills.

The Acro teacher originally there has left. With no surprise to me.

All in all it was a waste of my money and a hard lesson my daughter had to learn for the convenience of a dance studio in my town.
UPDATE .. As I figured the great Acro Teacher is no longer there.
The owner has no professionalism and lacks people skills.
Not to mention it’s a dirty environment.

Smithville Dance Academy has been such a positive experience for my daughter. We are so happy they have become part of our community. I cannot put a value on the confidence and self acceptance my daughter
has learned through dance, Miss Sam and all the amazing teachers there. She loves going to dance and they continue to push and challenge her to keep growing as a dancer, never give up or never think she is not good enough and to make an positive impact on her life. I highly recommend SDA for any aspiring dancers.

This studio is full of energy, positivity and amazing teachers who create a positive atmosphere for your children to learn proper dance moves, confidence and respect as well as working together as a team. They treat you as a family and make you feel very welcome. My son absolutley loves miss Charli. We have had such a positive experience at the studio. Thank you SDA for everything you've done for this community, we love you and I cannot wait for my daughter to start their too!
