Review for Nigel Bucknor

I recently had a session with Nigel Bucknor and found the experience to be disappointing. While he suggested that I remove people from my life who let me down, this advice felt overly simplistic and lacked the necessary nuance for navigating complex relationships. He did not ask clarifying context questions, which left me feeling that the recommendations were not tailored to my specific situation.

Additionally, he mentioned he would email me a worksheet but never followed through, which undermined trust and the sense of reliability in the therapeutic process. When I sought advice on building new friendships after potentially distancing myself from others, he seemed avoidant and provided little guidance.

Overall, I felt the sessions lacked depth and actionable support, which are critical elements I would expect from a professional therapist. This was not the empowering or insightful experience I was hoping for. If I were to follow his advice my recommendation to all would be remove him from your consideration list when choosing a therapist here. He is not a competent therapist.

The Family Centre has helped me grow, learn and understand so many new things about myself. They staff there is amazing. I have done individual and couples therapy here and they sessions and the help the intern therapists provide is amazing. I also appreciate the affordable rates because without it, many of us that are struggling wouldn't be able to get the help that we need. I especially want to thank the kind receptionist (I didn't get her name) who works days on Mondays. I always speak to her whenever I want to book my appointment and I just want to say she has been such a big help and so kind whenever I need to book or cancel my appointments. She goes out of her way to make sure the timings work and explains everything so kindly. You're the first person that people who want to get therapy talk to and I want to tell you that you are making a great impact. Thank you for being so kind. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I will continue to recommend The Family Centre to all my friends and family.

I've been coming here since I was a kid. Best office for ongoing and walk-in therapy in the city. The receptionists, interns, and therapists are WONDERFUL, and I always leave better than I arrive. I recommend the family center to everyone, and I can't say enough great things about this organization. Thank you, Family Centr, for improving my quality of life. It's made a huge impact on me, and I'll always keep coming back.

I had an incredibly poor experience with the family centre. My therapist had left the clinic without warning or explanation from the family centre after months of building a rapport. It took 3 phone calls to be transferred to the appropriate receptionist to find out why my appointment had been canceled. The way this situation was handled was inappropriate, unprofessional and incredibly distressing for someone who struggles with mental illness. In addition to this, they have yet to return the $180 I pre-paid for my canceled session. I would not recommend this place to anyone and will be taking my business elsewhere.

So disappointed on how they couldn’t bill directly to my insurance. I literally live paycheck to paycheck & can barely pay my bills. These guys think I have a spare $180 to put on my credit for the appointment just to have to wait to get it back from insurance. So sad that money prevents someone’s from getting help.

I’m going to add that I tried to access the subsidy but was told I had to use up all of my insurance before they could even consider giving me a lower rate. Then they all of a sudden they can bill to blue cross. The miscommunication in this office tells me I won’t receive they help I need from here as I need someone with good communication skills

I had originally really loved this place and referred multiple people here to get therapy. My first round of session were incredible. My second round was awful. I had set up my first session with Caitlyn and she didn't call during my scheduled appointment time. I had to call and ask what what going on and the receptionist said she didn't know. I had asked for a new therapist at this point because I don't appreciate my time being wasted. I had specifically set therapy before Christmas because I need it and had the appointment set up for awhile. I still have yet to receive a call back from intake to set up a new session. When I initially made the request for the session they called me back within the hour. You'd think they'd be more diligent with their staff considering the therapist no showed.
