My experience about my tour to Old Dominion was amazing they have interesting dorms, and interesting things at this place, beautiful experience.

I don’t know about the quality of the education here but I do know they have some amazing elevators here. They have dover as well as some other brands. The elevators seem to be well maintained and taken care of. The are clean and smooth and the ones in the Webb student center have great motors. I will be back to see more elevators.

UPDATE***My son is still an engineering student at this university. (Jr yr) He LOVES it here, has enjoyed MOST of the professors, made some good friends, and is still excited, happy & motivated about life and his educational experience at ODU.

Great Tour by Mikayla (Sp?) and Jordan. Very informative tour loaded with personality. Beautiful campus. New Football stadium!! New Dorms. New Chemistry Building. More new building projects in the works. It's great to see the university keep it up to date. Putting money back into the university is AWESOME!!

I am entering my second year here after transferring from community college and have enjoyed my experience so far. All the professors I have had so far have been good and care about their students and what they are teaching. There are places on campus where you can get help outside of class which can be really helpful. The food can be hit or miss but it is generally good. There are a bunch of clubs and activates on and around campus which provides a chance to take a break from your studies. All in all I will be proud to be a graduate of ODU!

Do not take your child or go here as an adult/transfer student. School punishes students if you have two family deaths in a row. The various advisors will tell you one thing and the administration says something else. No mental health help, they take away your aid, they reassure you everything will get resolved but will misguide you and play hot potato with you in hopes that you give up. I followed the advice of my advisor and now I'm paying the consequences for their misguidedness. If you try and email the advisor they don't even respond or send you to someone else. Don't even try to reach out to the president because he will not respond. This school just wants your money and nothing else. They don't care, so don't waste your time here.

Beautiful university with diverse students & staff. I'm praying this is my son's #1 pick university as I would feel he would get the best from an amazing CE program. I would feel safe with him being here with the 2 police stations nearby & I'd know he's comfortable minus the funky community bathroom. Thus far ODU ranks #1 on my list & we've visited quite a few school's he was accepted to with 2 more to go & I'm 95% sure neither will top ODU.

If you are transferring in as an established adult, post military; I would re-consider going to this university.

This schools primary focus is sports; this is where the funding goes.
They want young minds to manipulate/control.
Definitely not military friendly as their politics/ethics conflicts with what you've been accustomed to.

I departed after 2 years(they disenrolled me from the campus and removed my academic advisor), I was junior standing. The issue was i knew they had 24/7 acces to my own personally purchased electronic. If you want to spy inside my residence, away from campus, provide me with a laptop like a corporation would.

Only 12 credits were accepted at my new university. That is a semesters' worth of classes out of two years.

Lots of crime around the campus.
- active shooter at the recreation center (Jan 11, 2023).
- weekly emails from campus police asking for help identifying suspects(students getting robbed or cars stolen/broken into). It will be grainy CCTV footage.

Finally,
Look into Allen Walkers' scientific research ODU backed up.

Not all professors were bad. Your personal experience may vary, especially if you are fresh out of high school and your parents are paying.

ODU is awesome. The school has been totally updated since we graduated in 1996. There are tons more class buildings and the football stadium has expanded. There are even new regular dorms and apartment style apartments.

The university now has its own police force which adds to the safety of the entire university!

I love all the changes that have been made over all there games.
My husband and I are very pround to be ODU Alumni! Go Monarchs!!

(Plus, you can't beat being only about 35 mins away from Virginia Beach!)
