Extremely disappointed in this school. Signed up for a course and after a week realized it’s way more then I needed. The email stated you could get a refund before a certain date. I applied for my refund and then they inform me that it doesn’t count fees. Now I’m out $128 plus the cost of the ebook that I’ll never use of $90ish dollars. Last time I will ever do a course at this school.

Ay look there is something important to note if you're applying to this university, you gotta pay a deposit of 9500.CAD or about 18,000.CAD depending on your country stated on the passport, and if you don't get the visa (like it happened to me), the university will minus 200.CAD something fee.. (gotta accept that for taking their time..) then they will refund your money (initially.. don't worry..) based on the conversion rate for that day.. I sent USD 7060 (9501.CAD as of 23 October 2024) and then received a refund sum of 6329.69 on 23 January 2025 (442 Loss :(... ). The rate of Canadian Dollar was higher when I sent the funds and then it was lower when I received it. so I made a great loss of 442 USD. Lesson learnt..(won't apply to uni's that require deposit..) It's not their fault but whoever that's in charge of the finance.. he/she could have facilitated a strategy of refunding when the rate comes back to the initial receiving rate (at least for USD, EUR, Pound.. because if we say for example, Turkish Lira.. it just keeps going up, so if they wait for it to come back to that rate.. it'll just become gambling with the student's money, no one knows when their market will go up or down).. CAD to USD doesn't even change that much but 0.4% is something in the world of finance.. 0.4% + 1 million dollars is 4,000USD 🤷🏻‍♂️. There is a solution to everything in life... except death (and me getting a study visa... HAHAHAHA 🥲

If I could rate the school zero, I would

I understand universities being for profit, but TRU is on another level entirely, they really don’t care about students, most instructors are terrible, yearly significant increase in tuition and residence fees and parking policies are crazy. Imagine having your car towed because of outstanding tickets, rather than just issuing tickets. Like how do you do that to students that attend your university and pay tuition fees, especially in this very cold weather. Imagine having to pay more than $300 to have my car retrieved plus still getting a ticket.

TRU is an absolute joke of a university in all ramifications and things need to change and they need to do better.

Impossible to hear back from anyone in the online learning program. If anyone could suggest other schools with self-paced online courses with similar costs and better staff, I would enroll immediately

This school is an absolute nightmare.
I did 3 semesters here in the Open Learning (Online program). I gave it my best efforts. Be prepared for around 120 pages of reading in one go for your courses. The instructors are extremely slow in responding (turnaround of about 2 weeks at times, a week on the short end) and take around 2 weeks in general to mark assignments. If you've got financial aid, you've only got 18 weeks (sometimes less) to complete the semester, so you're on strict deadlines if you want to complete the semester in time which makes it VERY difficult when you can't get any help or responses in a timely manner.

The advisors and instructors don't seem to care at all. It's clear this school is just a money grab. They make it so if you don't pass the final exams, you fail the entire course. The final exams are extremely difficult at times (in my experience the elective ones were more fair for difficulty level). My third semester I failed a course despite having 90's and 100's on every quiz and assignment.

They don't seem to take feedback and implement it. There are tons and tons of unhappy students who are pushed aside and ignored. I transferred to another school, and as much as I'd like to finish my bachelor's degree, I'm not sure if I can take another course here unless they seriously change their ways. I don't want to give them another dime of my money.

I took an online course here of anatomy. My instructor didn’t get back to me in a week. This is so disappointing as a student as I have other assignments to do as well and no reply back to my email and phone calls. This is unexpected from a public university.

This is the worst university i ever attended. I took a course through distance learning. I had a great exam and gave all the assignments. 5 days after, they email me that you failed the course. I had a great exam and prepared it for almost 1 month. Now i am contacting them for re evaluation and am getting no replies from them. They charge so high however, their services are the worst moreover, the professor are worse than that. I would never recommend this university to anyone.
