One of the nicest visitor centres in BC's Interior, no doubt. A stunning, huge log building, friendly staff and a wonderful place for events and celebrations.

This was an unexpected gem of a stop! Plan to spend some time here - not just a bathroom break! The architecture of the building itself and the design and decor outside and in is very captivating and interesting! Once inside, there is a lot of information available in the visitor centre portion of the building.
We got interested in many of the unique items in the main floor gift shop as well. There are many First Nations inspired or created items of clothing, jewelry, t-shirts, home decor, puzzles, and so much more it’s hard to describe it all. It’s also just very visually stunning.
Beyond that, the rest of the building is a museum of the history of the area that has some incredible pieces and information and could really take you a full day or more to read and inspect all the artifacts and information! This has been really well done across a few floors of this stunning log building.
There was also a refreshment bar inside the gift shop however we didn’t order anything from that.

Very helpful staff. They provided ideas and useful information while we were stranded for days in Williams Lake during the #bcstorm that closed all roads to Vancouver. An impressive building with lots of great merchandise and gifts. The parking lot connects up with a biking trail. Good local info available on the exterior kiosk boards. Loved the mural walk!

This is one of the best staffed visitor centres I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to plenty.

Was enroute to Fraser Lake a week or so ago and stopped in just to use the bathroom, however the great displays and setup of the place had me wandering around there for a while.

The fantastic ladies that work there asked where I was headed and advised me of a chip truck fire along my intended route that would have delayed me for many, many hours.

They provided a map clearly outlining an alternative route and literally saved my day.

When I realized the detour would be a long one, I thought I should grab a coffee (thinking it would be some regular drip style affair) but was pleasantly surprised when Kim (Visitor Centre Manager extraordinaire) took me to the coffee area and prepared me a delicious expresso from their impressive machine.

Though I was only passing through, I gotta say that if the residents there are anything like the wonderful ladies at the visitor centre - I would like to spend a lot more time at Williams Lake.

We heard an ad on the radio that the visitor center rented out fishing poles and that this father's day weekend you didn't need a fishing license. When we asked about the fishing rods, the employee (an older woman with a snaggle tooth, I'm sorry I didn't catch her name) didn't know about either. She took forever slowly reading through a binder about the fishing rods and she insisted there was "no such thing" as a license free father's day event, that she "never heard of that", and started trying to sell us fishing licenses. This was after failing to log into her computer for several minutes and calling her manager to double check that the visitor center actually did rent out fishing rods. She had no clue and we ended up walking out after a very long, frustrating interaction. We looked it up after we left and on My Cariboo Now's website there was an article posted yesterday called "Fishing Licence Requirements Waived This Weekend In The Cariboo & The Province" that says father's day weekend has been fishing license free every year for the last 25 years. Sorry for the long review, the building is beautiful but please educate the staff about what services they're supposed to provide, how to use their computer terminals, and what long-standing local events there are... that last one seems like something a visitor/tourism center should know all about.
