This is a complaint letter about Mary.
I contacted WorkbC in mid-January and visited their office on February 6th as scheduled. I was greeted by a woman named Mary. At that time, my job was unstable and I was at risk of losing it, so I expressed my concerns to Mary and hoped to receive help from WorkbC to learn new skills and find a new job. However, Mary insisted that my current situation was still considered employed, despite me telling her that I only had a few hours of work per week and could lose my job at any moment. She refused to provide me with any information or assistance.
After losing my job in mid-February, I found a school where I could receive skill training, but I needed assistance from WorkbC. I called Mary and she told me to call her back on February 21st to handle my case.
Finally, on February 21st, I called Mary as instructed. She answered the phone, said she was busy, and asked me to call her tomorrow. However, when I called back to ask her what time I should call, she never answered my call again. Mary's rude attitude was frustrating. I wanted to tell her that since it was her requested time, she should have arranged her schedule to accommodate mine. She should not have hung up on me with just a "you're busy" excuse. If she was unable to manage her own workload, she should apologize to me instead of being so impolite. If her abilities were not the issue, then her attitude certainly was.I believe that Mary should understand that waiting for twenty days is very difficult and stressful for a low-income, unemployed father of three children. My children's growth will not stop just because Mary is busy, and my rent will not be delayed because of her schedule. Waiting endlessly has made my life even more difficult and challenging.
I find it hard to understand why Mary has such a work attitude. I do not know if she treats others in the same way or if it is just me who receives such unprofessional and extremely rude treatment.
There is an ancient Chinese poem that says, “Tomorrow will be yet another tomorrow, and how many tomorrows will there be.” Mary, you can enjoy the sun and comfort in each tomorrow, but we are trapped in the endless waiting of tomorrow, feeling more and more anxious and helpless.

It's been about 2 weeks now, they have done nothing but take information from me and schedule irrelevant workshops in the upcoming month. I feel as someone who is unemployed, waiting a MONTH for a workshop that is irrelevant to what I am looking for is a waste of time. I will literally be homeless by the time that date comes around. They scheduled a time for me to sit down with on of the resume gurus. I showed up and no one was there. my meeting was 12 to 1, the exact time they close for lunch. After talking to someone about what it was I was looking for and how much I was expecting in pay, they showed me a few postings they felt would be good except they meet the pay requirements of some "fresh to the workplace" kid. Extremely low pay jobs, I would be happy if they would offer something that makes my experience worthwhile.

To sum this up. They have taken tons and tons of info from me, suggested a few postings with pay that was an absolute insult to the experience I have and the positions I have held before, they've setup a meeting that they did not show up too and they keep calling me to come in for my initial meeting that I had 2 and a half weeks ago with them. Very VERY disorganized and they really don't seem interested in helping. I have literally just wasted my time here and this is suppose to be a government supported workplace. Really shows the priorities of our Gov.

alright... so these guys aren't bad. They WILL help the right people in the right circumstances more then people say. heed some warnings though.
help seems to be geared towards entry level/teens/young adults who struggle to find work. There are programs and services and sponsorship that help fund training but accessing these are tricky- you have to have the right case manager (which apparently have high turn over), have a history of struggle, be in a good industry, lucky cards and stars lined up etc... sometimes it takes FOREVER to get funding or the right help. If you are coming in looking for the right help with work/funding for training right away your out of luck, look elsewhere and pay you don't lose in some wave of misfortune.

I've seen older people turned down for certain funding cause they were "overqualified" and could "already get stable work" according to the case manager, when they struggled in the field with where they were. Also they will help you get BACK to work, but they won't help you if you already have work and want to upgrade your training, you have to be fully out of work (hint: don't quit, NEVER quit a job because your dissatisfied, get terminated by employers decision if you have to but always stick it out or its MUCH harder to get help. if your discriminated against its a different story) to get the best help. Funding, severances, EI, or help from someone financially outside will help you sift though this as it takes time.

This group operates from two offices- this office and North Delta. Here's the trick of "delta." a lot of times you may have to go out to ND office. While its not bad if you have a car, it becomes a nightmare on transit because transit in this part of the region sucks! frustrating! were all apart of delta but can't be seemed to be served properly transit wise. Not entirely their fault but much inconvenience

Man I wrote this review 3 years ago and gave it 3 stars? It was decent back then..... like many other (government) resources it quickly slipped from bad to worse. They've become more useless then people claimed they once were. Another example of fine bureaucracy waste of money.
